Speed GT Series Question
Hello folks. I just read an article in a Mustang magazine about a handicapped racer that runs the Speed GT series. Nice car, seemed to be very well set-up, especially with all of the custom hand controls. What was strange to me was that the Mustang was Vortech supercharged. The article said that it was limited to 10 lbs of boost per Speed GT rules. Claimed the car was a 500+ hp ride, and was also set-up to run in ALMS sedan class.
Now my question is whether it's legal for a 928 to run "boosted" by the rules in those particular series????? I know they can't in POC or PCA events, but this was interesting news to me about Speed GT and ALMS. I think we need to strap some boost on ol' Mark A. if it's legal!!!!!!!!

FYI:
There was a fatal accidient involving a track worker and hand controlled car. Here is a very small description of the event.

I think the Speed chanel will have more on the story.

Biguns - no clue on the induction vs. rules issue. The Speed Folks tend to do strange things from time-to-time. I'll bet Kibort will chime in shortly on this subject...

I met her at the Laguna race last Oct. Very nice woman, very eager to show us just how the controls worked. Gotta give her a lot of credit to race with that group. By the way, Kibort put a lap on her.

Of course Im going to chime in here!! My favorite subject, Speed GT!!
Yes, Carol has a heck of a machine. very fast, but im sure the hand controls are not that easy to master. even though I did have a lap on her, we had a 5-7 lap battle where I couldnt really get around her , until one of the big Saleens (550hp types) had a near off, she lifted into turn 11 and I got a good run at the corner. Our lap times were within a second or so. Hey, this is a much better car than her Ferarri, which i have also raced against, and she has run a 1:39.xx at laguna in that!!!!! They said they were a little down on power due to some SC issues.
Anderson cannot supercharge his car, but I surely could. Mark is already right at the HP range of the front runners. They allow supercharging to the older versions or lesser performing relatives of the top manufacturer car.
a 5 liter 928 would be a likely candidate, and Im sure I could make a case to get it in. the problem is, I dont have a supercharger to install!
Wouldnt it be nice to make up the 160hp im down against Mark A?
wouldnt that be awesome!!!! I dont know, but for some reason, 160extra hp would help a little!!
Mark A, has actually been loosing weight over the last few years on SpeedGT specs. I think we are not able to run 2850 lbs with driver!. my lowest has been 2935 this last season. this year, Ill be around 2900. Mark, has to add weight to his normal running weight of around 2600 , or 2800 with driver, but not much. (ie 50lbs or more gas than usual)

Looks like Mark and Joe would have been in the top 3 cars for SpeedGT in 2000. but ,those guys were running BFGs!!
However, for scale, the top Touring cars were running 1:30 in qualifiying.
My times are always a touch faster or equivilant when they run BFGs or DOT race rubber.

Thanks all for chiming in. I wasn't sure how they work all that crap out. It would be nice to see you with another 160 hp Mark. Maybe get a discount from Tim on a Super Shark system for proudly displaying his logo?????
