chin spoiler
Anyone know how difficult it would be to install the S-style front chin spoiler on an 81 U.S. 928 that originally didn't have one? I really like the look. Still trying to figure out the 3-peice rear spoiler

That is a very good price for the original S spoiler . Installation according to Porsche would also require the two Brake duct grills about $101 and $ 95 plus a hardware / install kit for $38 or so . Or you can cut off part of the spoiler and mount it flush with the bottom of the bumper cover omitting the ducts but it looks a bit odd that way .

The expeerts speak above, but I'm in the process of replacing my front spoiler, and from what I know (as I order parts from Jim and the boys) is that not only are the brake ducts, etc needed, but you need to drill a few holes in your lovely Al. fendors, and maybe get new grill supports, because the spoiler attaches to them.
You may need new fender support struts, becasue the spoiler attaches to them specially. And the biggest thing (again, speculation only) the pre S fendors may be different in how the wheel arch relates to the tire and the gaps may be too tight if you put a spoiler on.
Is it worth it? If I had a pre S car, I'd just put an S4 wing on the back, 17" wheels on it and call it "hot" - Ruf

Rufus--Although I do agree the s4 wing looks good on the earlier cars, I still want it to look kind of like it should factory. If the true 928 buffs can tell the exhaust was the wrong roar in Risky Business they'll def. catch the spoiler. If I went with the s4 wing I would have to go to s4 covers front and back and we all know how deep that can of worms is!

From what I remember, you stated it was painfully expensive too. I would have to buy all the lights and mounting hardware. I think it would be better to just stick with the S-look. I still have no idea how to mount the rear three peice so it doesn't look like %&#! I saw someone at the frenzy this summer who had done it without the trim and it looked perfect. He said it was a real pain and he had to come up with his own brackets.

what do you expect its fiberglass, thats why you have a body shop put it on so they can deal with the hassle of making eveything straight. If i was you just do the rims interior and engine. Theres alot of aluminum on the engine that can be polished. It seems that i noticed that alot of people concentrate on everything but the engine compartment

Are you sure you want the spoiler? I agree that they look great, but they sit pretty low and I suspect that most people mangle theirs eventually. Maybe I'm just a spoiler moron, but I've broken mine time and again, and Ive noticed that they seem to be in demand on ebay etc. It would be interesting to do a poll: how many years did your front spoiler last before you mangled it?
