Greg, are you confident the gap in the teeth is clocked correctly?

Just because it's new, we can no longer just assume it's ready to go.

We have to check everything, these days!
So back to your statement on aftermarket and OEM parts for Chevy. Everything has to be checked and rechecked.

It has to be changed to a different ring, regardless.

I will need to make sure that the replacement ring will not move.

I've seen more than one of the '85/'86 rings move.....they are a separate part.

On the 5 speed '87 and later flywheels, the ring is an integral part of the flywheel, yet the automatics still have a separate ring.

Improvement?

I had mine pinned with 3 set screws drilled and tapped.

I've done that a couple of times, without issue.
