And here it is: No Reserve: 1978 Porsche 928 5-Speed for sale on BaT Auctions - ending November 10 (Lot #90,211) | Bring a Trailer

I would say gutsy move selling it as no reserve, but I think it will eclipse the record for an early car BaT auction. Good luck Paul.

Paul restored 01117 to a top example. The car is "right" in every dimension that matters for a proper, original 928.
And Pasha will put it over the top, very desirable.

7 days will be a long time to wait, anticipation...

Very buffed up and cleaned up well.
But for me, it's just another early 928 that hasn't had the heads pulled and the coolant issues dealt with.
It's a "super detail job" that forgot the most important part....the engine issues from sitting around, for years on end.

(This is a major part of our work, these days, as people are dragging 928's out of garages, where they sat for 10-25 years without changing the coolant.)

We're literally in the middle of trying to "salvage" a 24,000 mile 928 that sat around, for too many years.....like almost all of these "low mileage" 928's did.
No joke...we are literally trying to salvage the engine...so the original serial number engine can remain with the car. (The car was recently purchased for BIG dollars.)
Any other car...we would toss the engine in the trash and start over with a different block and heads.
The acidic corrosion was so bad that it took .33mm to clean the 5-8 side of the engine block. (Keep in mind that the thickest gasket available, from Porsche is 1.1mm, which is .1mm thicker than stock. And this gasket is made for resurfaced heads....not for block resurfacing.)
And that means that the pistons are going to "stick out" of the cylinders at least .25mm.
.....That's not going to work!

Sorry, this early 928 is not "restored".
Yeah, it's very pretty,
but you can't "restore" a 45 year old car and not touch the heads/engine.

....That's just passing the really significant/obvious problem on to someone else!

When it comes to restorations, Paul and his associates William and Rob are in a class by themselves. Paul just finished restoration of a one owner 1974 BMW 3.0 CS (Ohio owner - thus corrosion!). When it was finally shown at a regional show, the owner of Nordstrum's wanted to buy it. NOT FOR SALE Paul said. Well, Paul was wrong, as this man really wanted the car. His check finally got high enough in 6 digits that it now belongs to him and Paul is currently driving a classic Ferrari model! IF you have interest, here is a link to the Forum page where Paul posted the work: https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/pa...ch-list.39039/

Paul had previously restored//modified another BMW 3.0 CS and P21S featured Paul and that car in many of their 'car magazine' ads for several years.
