The part number appears to be: 928 362 119 30?

To me they look like Clubsports, but I thought I'd ask the experts here if they are the real thing and worth restoring?
Those are forged Club Sports if they all have that part number but as I am aware they are not classed as D90's.

Thanks Fred, The seller stated that they were all part number 928 362 119 30 and 16" x 9" so I'm optimistic.

Also thanks for the clarification that Club Sports are not D90's.

Perhaps someone has four of the 8" Club Sports and we can create a proper 8" & 9" set?

Dave

9" clubsports are relatively common because they came on a bunch of 944s in '88 and '89, but the 8" ET 60 front is unique to the '89 928, so there are only 115 sets originally imported to the States. There's a relatively recent thread where Roger supplied a set new but Porsche shows them as NLA now.

Rob,

That makes sense as they were only $350.00 including shipping... I could have one pair cut down to 8" and re-welded, or widen one set to 10" if wider 16 inch tires are easier to get. Guess they might be fancy garden or air hose reels in a worst case scenario.

Thanks!

Thank you. Could I get away with 10" wide front and back? I think I could acquire such a set.

Rears will fit easily, and you can run a 295 for sure, and possibly a 305.

Thank you very much.
My small problem is this. I badly want to fit 18" Turbo twists to my s4. The s4 has et65 on all 4 corners. I can get et65 10" for the rear no problem, but nothing near that for the front. I had an idea to possibly use et65 10"'s on all 4 corners but have been reliably informed by a knowledgable FB friend that the 10" wont work in the front. Does anyone have any ideas? I can get et50 18" for the front in 7/8" but am concerned about the low offset.
Thank you.

Chrome is a terrible material for wheels on a sporty or sports car as it weighs a ton. Adding this much unsprung weight is going to make the car feel lethargic in handling and acceleration.

When I bought my RUF 997, the PO had the RUF wheels chromed.

They were the first thing I sold off and replaced them with a lightweight set of forged Champions. The wheel and tire combo with the Champions was 10 lbs lighter per corner for a weight savings of 40 lbs, and I can't tell you how much it improved the handling and sharpness of the car. I then did it again by replacing the big red iron brake setup with PCCBs.

That was such a major improvement that I'm just today finishing a PCCB upgrade on my Cayenne Turbo S to realize the same benefits along with zero dust production. The 410mm front PCCB rotors have to be 30 lbs lighter than the 380mm steel ones I pulled off - should have weighed them.

Maybe part of your refinishing process is going to be to strip the chrome off, which would be good, otherwise the hose reel idea is brilliant.

I have found a set of wheels I like, and would like your opinions on them. As discussed at the top of the thread I have a 1990 s4. The wheels I have seen are 18" Turbo Twist. Et65 10J rear. and et50 8J at the front. I know the front ET isnt ideal and I'd like your opinions on that if I may.

a) Will these fit?
b) Will I have a problem with the smaller ET?
c) If all OK, how wide a tyre can I safely put on these? I am looking at the Michelin PS4's

Thanks guys
James

Going as wide as you can in the rear will not improve handling, ET 50 up front is less than ideal and will also have an effect on handling. But at the end of the day do what makes you happy, it’s your car. You could easily do a 295 in the rear with a round tire like the Michelin’s.

Thanks Adam. Thats good to know. I am sitting at 255 on the rear at the moment, so thats a good increase. If Im honest its as much for looks. What do you reckon I could get on the front? My current 225's look painfully narrow. Appreciate you replying, thank you.

I am running 235/40/18 on fronts and 295/35/18. The tires are Bridgestone Potenza S04 Pole Positions. No issues with rubbing front or back. It's my daily commuter and I dont have any issues with the ET50 front offset but i'm not aggressively driving it. I leave that for the 90GT or the 93 GTS which both have correct offsets.
