OKay, lots have happened since !

I started the roll cage :
OK les gars, voilà les photos !

AST's tubes are cut just right from the box !

Everything was going fine...

Then...

I had to cut the roof to fix a weld I made

Primed the interior and painted it !

I scanned the roof and designed a roof (in the end I took another route, I'll mould a roof off another 928)

I bought some 997 Cup wheels.
Yep I'll make them fit with centerlocks!

I sold the van, and bought an X5 so I can tow the cars better.

Went to my friend to setup the 997 GT3 for rally.

We installed the protections I designed.

And we tested the car with french rally driver François Delecour.

Safe...

30km after brand new tires were fitted.

I machined some heim joint cups for the twingo.

Pressed them in:

New struts !

Few finishing touches (until I find something else to fix)
Distributor cap :

Seat's in ! until I change it... more on that later.

We took the twingo to the track !
Best day ever !

Brought a lot of attention !

That's not me that's a friend... I told him it was twitchy on the brakes ^^

Finally finished the cage !
I was missing the doors crosses.

I took the car out !
(and removed the headlights...)

Washed it good !

Then I drove it in the industrial complex !
It's perfect. A nightmare to drive, just like a real race car ^^
I had no power steering at that point. Which made things a bit difficult...
The exhaust heat roasted me alive and it definitely needs a tune !

It does shoot flames so that's good !

I was progressing too fast on the car... so I broke my pinky as self sabotage

I had this made for the passenger :

I managed to take down the exhaust with a friend (and me one handed) and wrap it in insulation crap.

It should not immediately roast me alive now !

Got some more stuff :

I can not wait !

Last update you guys are up to date !

Grew a second thumb.

Got the passenger step in, but it's a bit large...

Alloy screws to keep it light.

Bolted the power steering lines :

It's got power steering now ! A bit noisy but who cares in a racecar ?

Exhaust is back in :

It takes shape !

So... it looks like we're done right ?

NOOOOO you don't know me by now ?
I will redo the electrical system a fourth time

This time I can't make it better !

i bought a MAXX ECU PDM20.
A 20 output programmable Power Deliveru Module.
All outputs can be PWM outputs.
Communication to my Maxx ECU STREET and the 12 buttons key pad via CAN, so just 4 wires.
The PDM can also serve as an additionnal 5V input for your sensors as it's connected to the ECU already.

Expensive, but can't make it better !

I'll be receiving it by the end of the month.

In the meantime I'll strip the old wiring harness off the car and go on vacations in NY

Other aspects of the cars are fine for now, I can wait to upgrade them. But not this.

Especially since I've decided to actually race the car and not just do trackdays.

So I'll need new seats and to install the fire suppression system I bought !

Thanks

So we did another track day with the Twingo !

Boutinaud Racing team was there, not with his 928, we have to fix the brakes on it...

Quick alignement for the Twingo then GO !

A lot of dust... that's what happens when you go off track... twice...

It's home now

We'll be testing new tires next

My broken finger is healing... looks kinda crooked no ? ^^

Tested my 944 shifter prototype !

It does need some tweaks for V2 but I already love it !

For the 928, I threw away the whole wiring harness... I'm starting over ! With a MAXXecu PDM20 !

Keyboard will go there !

Hop, bye bye !

Yep, all wires are red ^^

both ECU will be mounted aft of the shifter, vertically.

Now on to the roof !

Still a lot to do about it but we're getting there!

And lastly, AI don't know what a 928 is...

Thankfully humans do !

Hey !
Worked on the wiring for the PDM

Still a mess, but not for long !

Then I rest ^^

I need to spend more time on it...

In the mean time I worked on this one

Next step : race it a bit to see if we fixed the brake bias problem.

The 928 is moving forward ! Slowly... as always.

Just need to tidy up !

In the mean time, I did my first race ! With the man himself ! Raymond Boutinaud let me drive his 997 GT3 along himself for a hillclimb week-end !

What an awesome way to race !

Results ?
8th in production vehicles, 24th scratch (behind a 16th single seaters and 8 bespoke rally cars), 1st in GT10 and beat the GTTS !
Even beat the man himself by 1.5s ! Our 45 years difference did play a huge part as temperatures rose to 40°C (104F) and 50(122F) in the car !

I bought this, love it !

I also bought a 1/18 one, because a 1/18th is easy to put through a wind tunnel than the 1/1 !

okay ! Interior is almost done, just go to do the fire extinguisher pipe routing !

I bought a FIA seat, a HANS, harness and a breaker.
With FIA underwear... Total of the operation... 1500€... huh

Tried to tune the car a bit, and ran out of gas in 1 minute ahah
Getting back at it Tuesday !

I did tuned the gear display on the dashboard, pretty cool

I'm approaching the end of the first iteration of the car. I'll be racing it as is for a while.
Then I'll swap a 4.7L 310hp engine, with headers and ITB just for fun.
A GT gearbox too.

Fire extinguisher almost done

The first hard line going to the extinguisher

New Sparco REV QRT seat

Cartek GT circuit breaker
[url=https://servimg.com/view/13277686/5395][/url

Le toit en train de se faire compressé

Installed new Lindsey Racing cam tower gaskets ! Hopefully they cure the cam towers leaks...

Also replaced some lifter that were bad.

Started to work on new lower ball joints for the front arms. To add caster, camber, and correct the roll center for lowered cars.

*Not completely done yet.

Started working on the updated interior bits again. This time, the door handles.

I did a render of what the car should look like when done, with the 997 Cup wheels.

Can't wait to work on it again tomorrow !

I'm guessing your carbon fiber roof panel will glue on with structural adhesive? Do your new ball joints have replaceable studs , with much longer lengths? And bumpsteer is a big problem with very much lowering... Please make me a roof panel.... please.... Ken

Yes, I'm not looking for a show car, so the carbon fiber panel will just bond over the remaining part of the original roof. It's thin so it shouldn't be weird to look at.
Now, is it thick enough ? Time will tell ! I'll make a few if it works as intended

For the ball joints, I "copied" the GT3 Cup style. Since it's the main ball joint of the front suspension, I don't know yet if I want to have a longer stud with stackable washers so everyone can adjust it, but be weaker. or just do like porsche did with different length of studs for different roll center correction (Porsche has 3 different length, 55, 65 and 75mm IIRC).

It also moves the ball joint forward and outward to increase caster and maximum negative camber.

The part is drawn, but the engineering starts when the car is able to drive !

yesterday I took the car out the shop to wash the car AND the shop (both wear filthy...)

it's still leaking...

Hard to see, but it looks like it's coming from above, directly from the camshaft !

I oredered the parts, will have them tomorrow morning, hopefully by tomorrow evening the car does not leak anymore !
If it doesn't leak, it can drive ! Drive to the alignement shop.
I did a quick measurement, I have -2.8° of camber in front, should be enough for now.

i couldn't take it out yestrday because my neighbour had scaffolding piled on his door... the car is too long ^^
My power steering needs to be bled, or the pump is crap (which would both explain the noise it makes ^^). Eh, 30€ used pump that has been sitting in my shop for years... not surprised

Roof panel is out of the mould. It needs reinforcing. It's very thin right now.

Quick clip of the sound !
