Extended Hub steering wheel

Here is another even more inventive manner in which to extend the four-spoke steering wheels. First drill the four rivets out of the hub and wheel. Next you will cut a piece of steel sheet of about 20 gauge into a strip that is 9.6 inches long and as wide as you want your extension to be. Then roll that strip of steel into a smooth circle that is 3.06 inches in diameter and tack weld the ends of it together. Then cut the hub in two at the location you like and through the middle of any row of crush holes. Next weld the ring of steel into the space between the two cut pieces of the hub. Paint it black. Now all you need is to bolt it back into the steering wheel, and then fabricate some kind of extension of the rubber cuff to fill up the extended gap at the base of the cuff.
Note: When you cut the hub in two be sure to keep track of the orientation of the two halves so that they go back together with the same orientation that they were to begin with. Also, double check my measurements of the diameter of the crush hub. You want your ring to be exactly the same diameter.

* Inside : 21.8mm(0.85"), 40 splines
* Bolt pattern: 6 bolt (70mm MOMO)
Gentlemen:
I found the above measurements.
I dont have my steering wheel off so if anyone can confirm:the Inside Measurement(21.8mm), 40 splines and 6 bolt pattern for a 1980 Porsche 928?

Gentlemen:
i found this.
40 splines
0,85'' interior diameter
I believe that fits the measurements of the 928.
With this, I believe everything else can fall into place(ie 6 hole MoMo steering wheels, extenders, quick release hubs, etc)
Anyone have any thoughts/data points?
