Default Extended Hub steering wheel

Id like to install an extended hub steering wheel on my 81 928 that does not have this feature.

What do I need to do?

..buy one.

Its all the same, and not separate from the wheel, its a longer crumple zone.

I had one on my white car, made the turn signal too far away to catch it easily.

Best upgrade for those with long legs, or short arms, or both!

Each of my 928's have one.

This is necessary for all 928. Porsche has missed something here, the steering wheel is sitting too far ahead. Here is my 50mm extension.

Jeff is correct in his short answer to your question. You need to buy a complete extended steering wheel. The dicta he added to his answer is, however, wrong. The extension is in fact a separate piece that is screwed to the base of the steering wheel hub. However, even if you were to find the separate extension it does not screw to the base of the normal steering wheel hub because the base is different. The Crush zone of the steering wheels are the same, also. Once you remove the extension the steering wheel without it is useless since you an no longer mount it to the shaft.

That is, unless the 81 steering wheel is perhaps a three spoke wheel and that one has a different kind of extension, which I have never seen.

I was wondering that myself, here's a photo which has me thinking this might work with the early 3-spoke which would be awesome, but not for $180.

Default Porsche 928 steering wheel hub adapter (quick release) 7/8''?

Anyone have any suggestions on a steering wheel hub adapter? I just got one that was advertised as MoMo steering wheel compatible and it turns out the after market hub's hole is 5/8'' in diameter whereas I informally measured the OEM 928 steering wheel hole to be 7/8"

Also the 928 OEM steering wheel has teeth/ridges that a lot of the advertised MoMo hubs do not.

7/8'' wide with ridges?
steering wheel compatible hubs do not.

Any help/data points much appreciated

For some reason your thread kind of reminded me of a steering wheel hub project I found myself in several years ago. I did a search and found the thread so I bumped it for you. See above (or below).
