Very cool thread that spans Porsche 928 history...!
I am curious about what the 928CS had...
Squirter or not?
They had the M28-41 engine.
87 and 88 models I believe.
Here is one of the pre CS cars belonging to Hans Joachim Stuck:
WP0ZZZ92ZHS842093
Does this VIN indicate anything..?

Holy thread resurrection. Was looking for squirter info and only now saw Boomerang Baba's question. HS842093 is so late '87 that it almost certainly didn't have squirters unless these pre CS special cars had such engines specifically installed in. Normal CS shouldn't have squirters either.

This H-S Stuck car has one interesting option, M167 Bridgestone tires. There were only 6 '87 MY S4 made with it.

WP0ZZZ92ZHS842008
WP0ZZZ92ZHS842014
WP0ZZZ92ZHS842093
WP0ZZZ92ZHS842125
WP0ZZZ92ZHS842222

All except HS842008 are C00 Germany cars, exception is C05 France. All are manual gearbox with LSD versions with fairly minimal options except HS842125. It has more normal 12 options long list including sunroof. First four are very likely those white pre CS cars given to four factory team drivers. I'm not sure if all their VIN's have been known yet.

For '88 MY only 10 ROW + 2 US CS have M167. For '89 MY only first US M639 GT have it and most of the '89 ROW GT have it.

What do you mean by "first US M639 GT"?..... only one US 89GT has the squirters? what about the CDN (C36) versions?.. or is it a NA vs Europe thing?..

Gonna have to take a look at mine once I get down inside there..

No squirters in any CS or GT. M167 Bridgerstone tires option which seem to indicate more sporting manual gearbox car.

US and Canada car are always lumped together. So there were only three US/Canada cars with M167, two '88 CS and first '89 GT.

Looks like I have a squirter block too. According to 928 Registry, my car is #687 and the build date is 10/86.

I have early 87 and it also has an aluminum oil filler neck. Anyone know how that relates to squirter engine production.

Alu filler was probably changed to plastic version some time before squirters were deleted.

I have plastic filler and squirter block. I noticed Dwayne's 87 has a metal filler, too.

928registry.org

They have a page where it lists every VIN of the cars built.

I find it humorous though that perhaps some of our cars we post about once sat together on the very same assembly line as they were being built at Porsche. Small world.

Are the early S4 engines more prone to oil starvation because of the piston squirters?
