Who is making this kind of rifle mount for the 928?

Is that a police car? The green/white makes me think so. Answering my own question, yes. It's a German cop car. Google found the image quite easily.

Interesting setup. Very accessible. However, I wouldn't classify an MP-5 as a "rifle". It's a sub-machinegun.
A rifle would have a hard time fitting it's length in that door. Maybe a folding AK, or an AR type with a really short barrel & tele-stock.

You could fit a much longer firearm in a 928 door, but the back of the door is in the back seat, so access would not be as good.

You would also need to totally rework the door card. It would be an interesting project, with the caveat that the legality of transporting firearms varies quite a bit by location, and the wisdom of having a firearm that visible in an unattended car is questionable at best.

Some time ago, a US police officer posted a pic with a 'patrol rifle' (AR platform) tucked against the passenger side of the TT tunnel. A setup like that (short tube on the floor to hold the muzzle, strap to hold the stock) would be both reasonably solid and accessible, yet fairly discreet when the firearm is not in place (legality and wisdom are still subject to question).

I am not sure but it might be a Turkish police car. Anyway, if I had had my 928 equipped the same way, the police would call in the National Task Force and arrest me for terrorism.

You could just Velcro your MP5 to your sunroof and call it a day you know...

I have more guns than automobiles, but I am still trying to figure this one out.

1.) It never would have occurred to me to me that I need a rifle mount in my 928.

2.) Further, that a Swede starts the discussion is even more amazing.

It's not really "mounted". Its just laying there. In the event of an accident or even 'spirited' driving, it's not restrained in any way. It could easily become a 'projectile', especially in a rollover crash.

You could secure a tube of some sort at the muzzle. A short, straight length of radiator hose would do the trick. Zip tie it to the carpet.

A strap of some sort to secure it higher up would also be necessary. Maybe under the console, using the console mounting points. It could easily wrap around the top of the pistol grip, or the stock tube.
That sort of setup would not be an obvious 'gun rack' when there's nothing in it.

And again, legality of this varies from place to place. The wisdom of leaving a firearm like that in an unattended car is questionable, at best (it's really pretty stupid).

I know Joe. I was just having fun, not debating the safety or legality of carrying an M4 in that fashion in a 928.

Oh, hell yeah.

It's an extremely accessible and handy spot.
For someone who wants something like that ready at hand, that's probably as good as it gets.

And. there are a lot of places in the US where that could be perfectly legal. It would be in Wisconsin.

it readily answers the "do you have anything in the car that I need to know about?" question when you get pulled over.

Isn't there an alleged true story somewhere along these lines of this thread involving a celebrity boasting to the passenger of the car he was driving to observe how he was going to get out of a pending and warranted ticket/arrest.....?
