Angry Creative ideas needed for mounting my KJET in a "modified" 5.0L block...

So, I just picked up my coffee table from the machine shop,
and I noticed that the challenges began immediately.
My 1981 uses the KJet fuel injection system, and I have a rebuilt FD ($$$$) ready to go.
My to my surprise a previous owner of my freshly completed 5.0L block has ground off the mounting spots for the KJET.
Heh heh. Great.
Any ideas for mounting my KJET at this point would be appreciated.
PET showing mounting of bonded buffer...

Here's what the original, proper mounting points looked like from my roached 4.7 block...

And here's my "special edition" 5.0 L block with the pesky mounting points removed by a prior owner.

Any help and ideas would be appreciated. This block has been a curse, it was purchased with "matching" pistons of the wrong tolerance group which required extra massaging from the machine shop as well. What would even be the purpose of freaking grinding off the mounting points?
Not feeling very neighborly right now....

Dan

are there any threads left in the ground-off bosses for a long piece of threaded rod?

Is that center knock sensor plug threaded? You could use it as a mounting base for a V-shaped bracket that would mount the KJET guts- For that matter since I don't think you'll be using any of the knock sensor plugs, you could use all three if necessary.

Get a piece of 3/4 Alu rod and cut a piece to length. Weld or JB weld it in place.

How about just getting a proper 5.0 block and recycling what you have at the scrap yard?

When I grew up, people threw junk pieces into the trash....now most people just put it on the Internet and hope someone pays for it.

I'm still throwing the junk away....

Get a piece of 1" aluminum U-channel from your local hardware store long enough to bridge between the ground mounting points. Cut to length and then grind a chamfer on each end to match the angle of the valley walls. The closed face of the channel should be flush to the top of the block. With the channel in place, place the k jet in its position and use a sharpie through the mounting holes and mark the top of face of the channel. Remove the channel and drill holes at the two marks you just made. Use a drill bit with a diamter that would allow the mounting buffer threads to pass through. Buy two nuts that match the threads on the mounting buffers. Place the nuts on the backside of the holes you drilled. Now place the mounting buffers through the holes and thread through the nuts and snug up. Now take the channel assembly and place it back across the block and over the ground mounting bosses. JB weld the channel at the interface between the channel chamfers and valley walls. voila.

I'll post a sketch of this idea tomorrow. (writing this in bed now. )

If your 4.7 is really toast, harvest the mounts from it and have someone weld it on.

Even though Alusil sucks to weld, those welds don't need to be absolutely perfect like welding up a crack in the cylinder. It will rarely cross 220F and isn't put under much mechanical stress.

Thanks for the ideas thus far...
I do think a stable bracket would be a workable solution. It's a matter of just holding the FD in place it seems, and most of the other KJET solid lines, parts, and guts would seem to help hold this part in an approximate location as well. I will probably make the bracket from aluminum as mentioned, and use a high-temp epoxy perhaps like this (https://www.itwpf.com.au/devcon/titanium-putty/ ) along with the threaded plug to secure it all.

Rob, yes, one of the plugs in the donor 5.0L block is threaded, and that would be an ideal anchoring point. Thanks.

LOL as opposed to this "perfectly good" short block I bought ? Believe me, I wouldn't know a proper block if it bought me flowers and asked my dad first. This continues to be a spaghetti bowl of intersecting learning curves. I do feel guilty for spending extremely hard-earned money on what has been a slowly oozing cluster-foxtrot. Yes sir, what people will sell is pretty interesting. But, there's not a large enough trash can on Earth for this 928 project of mine.
You guys really are an awesome resource, and I sincerely appreciate the help here, as always.
Dan

If the block had the incorrect piston size group supplied with it, changes are that it's someone else's mess passed on, right?

Yes sir. I agree with this, and I was only making fun of my own inexperience and mistakes.
At this point, I am just trying to carefully complete the assembly process as sanely and carefully as possible (if possible). Surely I can find a commonsense way to securely mount the FD over the valley... even though it would be great to not be dealing with this weird issue.

At best, the block was simply misrepresented to me out of an honest mistake, and I think I'll choose to just believe that.

Again, thanks.

I ground those off when I used an 86 block for my current stroker. I did a much more precision job and when the block got it's acid bath for the nikasil, you can't even tell they were ever there.... looks just like an 87 and later block... until you try to bolt the starter bracket on... LOL
