With that said, IMO, both the F-Type and Macan are better cars than a GTS. It shouldn't be surprising though given that a GTS's are now 20+ years old.
And to clarify, there is no doubt that a Greg Brown 928 will be the best it can possibly be.

I got close....and my ego/reputation got in the way. I was replacing all the "wear" pieces, when I decided to go "all the way" and make sure that the car had absolutely all the mechanicals "freshened".
I'm going to pull the heads (we've already done the entire top end...intake, valve covers, all the hoses and seals, so this is not my "brightest ever " decision) and freshen the heads (valve job, and guides, etc.) and make sure the head gaskets are "fresh".
I'm also going to pull out the transmission and completely rebuild it.
Once your ego/reputation gets involved, it's really tough to cut corners.
Needless to say, someone is going to get a great car that they can drive for 60,000 miles, replace the cam belt and water pump, and then drive it another 60,000 miles.

Dont you hate when that happens ,
your reputation gets in the way of just fixing things so they will work.
Now they have to be factory fresh to boot.
As you have said before the car is free, the labor is what they are paying for.
I think that part of this is called being a perfectionist.

Sitting patiently, waiting its turn.
Time is the issue.
And the last month of Covid ripping through the shop hasn't helped with the time issue.
I got it the 11th of July.
I still think I have intermittent fever. Still have congestion. And I'm so fricking tired, I can barely get out of bed by 8pm
If I was an employee, I would not be at work:
Which is probably why not all of my employees have not returned.....

Gute Besserung Greg!
A friend of mine had long Covid and every time he had too much stress he sleeped 20 hours at once.
Give you the time your body needs to recover. Maybe doing a little vacation or visiting a friend?

Greg if you need help, I can take a couple weeks off from my company and come help. I am not concerned about Covid being around. I can turn a wrench, clean, stock, etc. The stuff that makes you lose time. I'll camp my RV on the street in front of the shop. If you get really desperate, ask and I'll be there.

Very sorry to hear this and long Covid is no joke.
You will need to be as forward leaning as you can on your health issues and getting enough rest and good nutrition through it.
Jeff's generous offer is something to keep in mind.
Best to you and your family.

Thank guys!
We are all on the downhill side of this "version", now.
I had an earlier version, before.
It was about the same as this, in terms of fever, headache, and congestion.
The physical weakness is the bad part of this.

Its been about 5 or 6 weeks for me, and I am just getting back to the point that I can spend a whole day in my office and working on boats/cars without feeling like I need to be carried home. Still not ready for actual exercise, but at least I can see the day coming. I had the intermittent fever long after I was testing negative and all other symptoms were gone. I'd be out working in the Honolulu sun and just start sweating up a storm. I went to the local auto parts counter, totally drenched, and the guy at the register said "Man, you're really hittin' it". Not really. Just trying to stay out of bed and do a little more than nothing.

I'm just now past the point where I don't have to take a 3pm nap, in my office.
I've got the A/C at the house cranked down to downright cold....and I'll just start sweating, all of a sudden.
During the day, at the shop, I just assume that there are times during the day that my shirt should be soaking wet.
The worst terrorists, on the planet, are the ones that had anything to do with this Virus.
The CIA should be out "taking care" of them.
