Default My daughter did some cool work today..

I've a punchlist of what needs done before Werks Reunion for us to work on...but while I go to work, she's been home doing it all -herself-.

She start as a tech at Sonnen Porsche next Monday.

Before the new one went in, cavities got Roxul, and open areas where I wanted sound proofing to capture road/wind noise, I used melamine foam.

This was the largest undertaking on the list..

Jeff --

Is new grease in the sunroof gearbox in the cards?

And... What ar the chances your in-house tech will get official 928 service training from Porsche? I know, it's listed as NLA in the catalog...

Jeff:

Did she get into the classics side, like she wanted, or is she going to start as a "new car" tech?

She wants in..but the dealer needs to have a Classics program, and then send her.

She starts Sonnen Porsche Monday, but is not Classics certified...at this _time_.

We cleaned up both of our sunroof systems entirely a few years ago, so this was just removing enough to get to the leather out from under all of the trim.

Good luck to your Daughter on her path, once these skills are mastered a life long opportunity will exist.

We are seeing a lot less young people that have any inclination to work with their hands,
beside the use of hands or fingers for operating a cell phone.

Young people pay attention to the old folk,
they have skills that must be passed down if their is any hope of future crafts people .

I see it all the time in people my age (I'm only 2 years older than Katie). So few want to learn practical skills that you use your hands for in my generation. That includes working on your own car properly....

What makes it even worse is that the people that know these skills are either dying or retiring. Whole crafts are being lost because nobody has interests in them anymore along with apprenticeships all but nonexistent anymore.

She'll have a great time in her chosen field as it is always changing and always new and interesting. I wish I could say the same about mine
