This may amaze you.
I don't have sound even hooked up to my computer....and I've never played back one of your videos. I'm not even sure I watched very much of the in car videos when I was a crew chief.
I have to go out onto the corners of a track to watch cars go through those corners to tell anything about how a car works...
I've told this story before:
One of the greatest lessons I ever had, as a set-up guy, was when worked for Technodyne. Chris Cervelli, Cort Wagner, and Kelly Collins were all driving, so this had to be at Sebring or Daytona. Each one of those guys are world class drivers, on their own. To have all three driving for me, was a real pleasure.
Long story short, at one review session, Cort was complaining about the car "pushing" in a certain turn. Kelly told him that he was nuts, the car oversteered like a pig. Chris thought the car was perfect. I watched in car videos of each driver....and because the car "made it through" the corner each time, I couldn't really see the issue. Next session, I went out and watched. Sure enough, each driver was 100% correct. The car would indeed understeer, oversteer, and be perfect. The difference was in how each driver approached the corner.
The solution......have Chris explain how he entered and drove the car through this corner and get everyone to drive like this....much easier on the tires.
Like I said, if the car works for you, it works.

Yes, the car "works" but it doesnt mean there isnt room for improvement, though i have tried over the past 8 years and have not got much improvement. The car is NOT an easy car to race at the limit. it reminds me of a story of Mark anderson and his pursuit of getting faster too, by using a pro to test the car. Stu Hayner was such a pro . He took a few laps in marks car, got out of the car and said it was "Undriveable"
when i get in a "proper" race car, its like a dream come true! it usually does everything well......but , i wont soon be able to afford actually racing one.... just testing and helping their owners better enjoy them. the 928 requires you to drive around many of its deficiencies.... this is good for developing skill, but not the fastest way to drive around a track. When a BMW e30 with a TON of bolt ons can run the same time or faster, as mark anderson at 335rwhp, (at a little less weight, 295 DOT tires, and 175hp less) you know we have hit the limits of our car!

This is amazing video for an armchair guy like me. I had to check if I took my BP meds last night cuz my heart is racing too, a little, and there are minimal no shots of you overtaking or being overtaken to add to the drama, just saying. I tend to weigh Greg's option of watching w/o sound as the sound tends to overwhelm, but I viewed once with sound, once w/o and once just watching the key fob stand out on corners . Thanks.

That really is a great video, thanks for sharing. I couldn't conceive how any motor head wouldn't want to watch hear that.
I get what was said about watching from the corners, DTDT...but that just shows what dinosaurs some of us are..these days of Go-Pros etc you can get much better on track information. Could you imagine the insight the Vette's Crew Chief could get with your Video into how his setup is working at each turn and bump of the course? It doesn't get any better unless you are hanging over the hood on the track, Times have changed...for better!! LOL
Of course the best part was the 15yo passing you in a Lambo... could you imagine being 15yo racing a Lambo... he should be one to watch!
Keep up the fun Mark, hell I have fun just watching your keys thru the turns..HA HA!!
Cheers,
Dave
