Hatch adjustment
take a sheet of paper,
cut a strip off of it about 10 inches long lay the paper over the rubber ,
then close the hatch,
see if the rubber is contacting the hatch,
you will know this by how much drag the paper has as you pull it free,
adjust the rubber block upwards till both sides have even friction on the paper

My hatch sat high like that for years until I replaced the white plastic upper hatch latch piece that had worn over the years. Once I replace the part the hatch pulled down securely into place eliminating the raised hatch line.
I was always told to adjust it using a dollar bill (wont tear as easily as paper) using the same method described above by Stan.
It got rid of a fair few pops and squeaks for me. Just be sure you have the teflon sheets that these rub against on the hatch.
