Default Speedometer, Odometer, Trip Odo Not working - SOLVED - Operator Error

A bit of background:

- Spring, 2017 - I reinstalled my gauge cluster into a newly leather covered pod. At the time of install, I noticed that one of the traces at the bottom left was exposed via the foil peeling/separating.
- Upon reinstalling pod/cluster, found that speedo, odo and trip odo weren't working.
- Fall, 2017 - Didn't like the fragility of the foil in the first place, and ended up getting one of Roger's new solid-state replacements.
- Installed solid-state replacement, speedo, odo and trip odo still did not work. In addition, a few other gauges / lights didn't work (temp, fuel, some lights...essentially all of the stuff controlled by the bottom left connector)
- Spring, 2018 - Removed pod, checked connections, found one askew (which is what lead to my earlier post on the topic). All the other gauges work fine, still nothing on the speedo, odo and trip odo

A few other potentially pertinent points:

- The tach works just fine. It did not work before fixing the orientation of the lower-left connector.
- The speedometer will spike up-then-down at ignition and turning off the car. It does not move otherwise.

I've read another thread indicating that there might be a correlation between blown fuses and what I'm experiencing, but there's not a numerical indicator of which ones they are.

I did the requisite Deoxit, prefaced by some stabilant, visually inspected all the fuses on the CE Panel, paying special attention of the anything-cluster related ones. I did find one blown fuse (28), but that does not appear to be related to the cluster.

I've also read some posts about checking voltage / connectivity at the CE panel on some of the connectors, but have not yet had the opportunity to do that.

While I look ahead to that, does anyone have experience with fuses being the issue in a similar situation? If so, which ones?

Thanks,
LT

Should have mentioned that....

I did check that as well. Everything looked good, and gave it a good squirt of Deoxit for good measure.

Have the same issue in a 84 manual. Does a 84 have this connector in the spare tire well, as well?

Don't have an answer, but it's a pretty quick check:

Remove carpet / foam
Remove spare wheel cover
Remove spare wheel
Look for plastic connectors at front of spare wheel bay.

SOLVED

It was the frequent, hard-to-troubleshoot, really stupid, bang-my-head-on-a wall Operator Error.

Realized that I had put the speedo sensor on the back of the differential on backwards. Originally looked at it thinking "well, the presentable side of black plastic must be on the outside."

Put on my Mr. Merlin hat and thought "what was the last thing I worked on related to the problem?". There of course was the pod cluster work, but I was also doing work at the rear end. Once I switched the sensor from black side out to the beige material side out, speedo, Odo and trip Odo are all back functional.

Well done,
see it does work............ . just ask yourself what was the last thing that I fixed.
Glad you got it sorted.
The next test was to disconnect the connector in the spare well and see if your getting a milli volts pulse when the wheels spin
