Seems like Curil K2 would be good for the cam tower gaskets as well...

Truthfully, I get stuck in a rut with gaskets and sealants. Once I find something that works (meaning it doesn't leak and I don't have to redo it), I'm done experimenting with other methids.
I've redone dozens of cam carrier gaskets, on both 928's and 944's. It's very time consuming and thus costly....not too bad on a 944, but really terrible on a 928.
Once I found a gasket and a method to install that gasket, I was done wanting to experiment.

I bought a set of your gaskets for the cam towers the last time I was down at your shop to order and pick up some goodies. Is installing them the same as the normal gaskets as per the WSM?

If the hardware is original, buy new (factory) cap screws. These bolts are specially made to stretch and clamp down the cam carrier at the specified torque. Age and use makes them harder and they don't stretch correctly.
Install the gaskets dry, torque from center out to 14ftlbs.

Simple to change, in place....on an early car. Because there is an oil pump attached to the rear cover on a GTS, room to remove the cover can be an issue....you may need to move the fuel tank.
Oh, okay. Didn't see that on the sheet drawing so didn't expect the pump to be located there. Anybody got a photo of the inside of the cover with the pump?
I just went to work and got the cover off. No problem with space and the oil pump. Now waiting for gasket and Curil K2 to arrive.
It looks to be some kind of vent on top, but it feels totally dry above it on the outside, I also managed to get my phone up there to snap a photo and it looks dry.

Curil K2 finally arrived and I could put the cover back on. And this time with a washer over and under the oil return banjo. There was no washer under when I removed it. So that could have been the source of the leak.
Anyway, I am hoping this operation will fix any leaks, I can't really see that it shouldn't. I was planning to remove the whole gearbox and TT after the season, to get the gearbox leak free and new bearings in TT. Bearings really not needed, so if this stops the gearbox leak it saves me a lot of work. Then I can start the intake off refresh instead
