I just heard from my Vet buddy, that he is at the track and the paddock is absolutely full with 80 trailers trying to get in. it sounds like it will be a record weekend for attendance, and i have only a few options left to park..... might have to drive the car to the event like the old days! a little nervous, as i haven't paid up my AAA towing policy just in case. but, i might do it!

Just got back from Sears Point, Sonoma Raceway. a ton of fun until the race, and even that was fun, right up until my passenger side , front Koni shock blew. it felt lie someone was using my right tire as a basketball dribbling drill. leading up to the carocell , it bounced so much , I almost lost the car, but as soon you lifted or used the brakes, the tire wouldn't bounce. the steering wheel was moving so much, I thought something broke. came in to the pits after I figured out that I could turn left fine and accelerate hard.. but after a bunch of cars passed me , I finally figured It out.. "what's the point" so came in to the pits and took a quick look. Oil all over the shock and dripping down. UGGGG. oh well... what do you expect from Koni ...........after 20 years.. yes, these were put in the car in 1998! I should have known better when I rebuilt the rear shocks after one was dead , 3 years ago. 3 really hard pounding sessions on brand new hossiers was fun.............and the race was brought to a caution when I went back out to make sure I got half the race in laps, to qualify for nationals (runoffs) turns out , you don't need more than a lap of the actual race to use this major event as a qualifier so, pulling the shock tomorrow and sending both to koni for re-valve and rebuild

Here is the video .. front cam and rear cam for the firsts few laps. the shock was blown after turn 5 after the opening lap, and that was end of the race for me... but I stayed out there as I didn't know how many laps I needed to have to qualify for the nationals. came into the pits about 6 laps in.. found it was a blown shock , oil everywhere around it, and went back out to a full course caution where a BMW had stuffed itself into the turn11 wall, damaging the wall. so, if you got to break,,, I did that right? otherwise it was a bust of a race.

I just pulled them off the car. the problem at the track was how to get the car on the trailer. a 2x4 might have worked. anyway, the one shock was completely blown. the other side felt like it always has..... but, when i pulled it off, it was half way blown on the compression side, rebound was fine. no wonder the birms rattled my teeth at laguna! might be a new car by next month! also, that coil wire that ended one of my races early at autoclub speedway, turns out ,the connector guts broke in half and thats why it fell off. it was only been held in by the rubber boot , and when i replaced ... the miss is still there at idle. no issues at WOT. wierd.
