It looks like a product developed by one of our Rennlisters. Interested to know what LED bulbs will fit this cap.

Haven't used it, but you can buy with confidence- it's the product of a well-respected fellow rennlister, Ed Scherer. If you want to see the quality of his work, here is a thread on the PWM LED dimmer he also sells on his web site, protizmo.com: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...to-leds-4.html

That's great. I thought it was Mr. Scherer's product. I've scanned Amazon's H4 LED's and don't see one that looks like the one in the seal cap picture. Anyone know of a source of one that will fit?
Thanks,
Dave

As of 14-Jul-2017 when I hunted around: the list of what-are-likely-to-work LED H4s available at Amazon.

Thanks, Ed. I just ordered a set, and got my bulbs at Amazon.
What is the best way to clean the inside of my existing headlight? I've heard of rubbing alcohol with rice grains to act as scrubbers. I'm sure someone knows the very best way.
Thanks,
Dave

Well, I don't know if it's the best way, but I used windshield washing fluid without anything else to agitate or wipe. Seemed to work pretty well. See the first post in the Building a replacement cap for sealing headlamps after converting to HID or LED for more information.

BTW, this is a timely thread. After I ship yours, there will only be one set left that's ready to go. I was wondering if I should make more, as interest has dropped off since the initial rush. I've got enough materials on hand to make another 18 sets, so I might just do that before I remove the workholding fixture from the ShopBot. It's not really that big a deal to get it set up again sometime in the future if/when I need to.

they're mine!!......lol. I'll be home later today and will order from your site.

After converting my son's truck to LED and just driving 1800Km round trip everybody should do this. The difference in light is incredible.

Just a question Ed...on the Woodypeck site he claims the covers aren't necessary and they were in place to let moisture out. Thoughts

I think the caps are needed to keep contaminants out of the interior, but to still let it breathe. A couple of things to look at:
  • That first post in the Building a replacement cap for sealing headlamps after converting to HID or LED, where you'll see just how cloudy my headlights got after a few years of running without a cap (because I was using HID bulbs). Those photos don't really do the condition full justice: at night with the headlights illuminated, they just looked embarassingly crummy, with an obvious film of contaminants on the inside of the glass.
  • Post #25 in that same thread, which explores why it's important to vent through a membrane.

Let me know if you decide to build another batch.

Knew I should have ordered two instead of one. Damnit.

I'll have another batch started right away; probably today. Should have more available within a week.

That works. I'm only done one this week anyway and if I"m happy I'll be doing mine after that. Thanks Ed.
