I ran 12.76 @ 109.7 mph or 12.4 @ 112.9 in the quarter mile.
Tonight I visited LA County Race Way at Palmdale. The 928 community was represented well. I am proud to say that I made 8 runs under 13 sec in the quarter mile.
My best time was 12.782 @ 109.718 .
According to LACR that time needs to be multiplied by .97 to get an accurate time since LACR is 2700 feet above sea level.
My best time then is 12.485 at 112.99mph.
Below is posted my time slip. You will notice that my time in the 1/8th was 8.32 sec. My time in the 1/8th at Irwindale last night was 8.075 or about a quarter of a second faster. Had I run the same time in the 1/8th at Palmdale then I would have run in the high 11 sec range. The difference is the track conditions. Irwindale is better prepared and yields better traction.
There were some other notable cars to compare to there. There was a Z06 Corvette consistently running in the high 13s, with a best time of 13.3 or 13.4. He said he had owned the car for a few months now. I have heard of them running well under 12 sec before. Say what you will about driver skill being the issue. I'll say track conditions were poor and everyone including me was running slower than they could have. Please realize I have driven my car only 7k mi in 1.75 years so I think we were pretty even in driver skill. As a mater of fact there was only one streetable car there out of 100 plus that was faster than me. An Eclipse ran a 11.89.
There was much interest in the car. 25 or more people asked me about it.
It has been said many times that the 928 is not and can not be a dragster. I love destroying foul myth. I will soon run a sub 12 sec 1/4 mi in a fully streetable 928 with 2.2 rear end and automatic transmission.

Andy GREAT job. I bet with a few more tweaks, 12 seconds will be achievable.
Looking forward to hearing more in the near future. Maybe This spring a few of us will be able to duplicate your success.

Three Wheelin'
Since I have hardly any experience with 1/8 mile times, 1/4 mile times are much easier to relate to. With that said, it looks like you shaved nearly 2 seconds off stock S4 quarter mile times, that's very nice!
Just so you'll know though, a decent driver in a stock Z06 can do low 12's, whereas an excellent driver in a stock Z06 can do 11.5's-11.7.

Sweanders,
Thank you. The car is actually heavier. I am currenly using a 5 gal tank in the rear of the car for the intercooler, 6 gallons in the system or 48lbs. The SC and it periferals add 30-40 lbs. So my car is actually 70-80 lbs heavier. I had about a half tank of fuel.
Thanks Doz. You'll be sharing your success stories w/ us soon.
Lag,
Thank you. My best time at this track before the SC was 15.2, and I got to make a lot of runs that night. 15.2 corrected is 14.7 which is what my manual lists as stock time. My runs last night were 2.3 sec faster than my fastest non SCed run. This is a seriously slippery track. Sand blows onto it from the desert. Don't quote me but I think I have read of a Z06 running a 10.9 on drag radials, which I am sure make a significant difference.

Great times Andy, I have complete faith in the auto with 2.20 gears as a 1/4 mile car (provided you have LSD) with the super giving you the torque to launch. Are you using any 1/4 mile guy tricks in your preperation (i.e. lowering tire pressure, dropping your sway bars?) Thanks, Joel

Thanks everyone.
Joel,
No I didn't do anything with the tires suspension or anything really fancy. I just showed up and went for it. To start I just loaded the torque converter up to about 1800 in 2nd and tried to ease off the line without spining.

Actually by having the selector in "2" he is launching in 1st.
Even in "D" and by flooring it, the tranny should down shift to 1st almost immediately. I have my cables pretty tight and it really doesnt take much to get a 1st gear launch from "D" in my car. By slecting "2" at the lights and thus getting 1st gear immediatly , im sure he has better control over the throttle response in relation to tire spin. Must be nice to have that problem

the number of street cars in street trim which can pull up to a 1/4 mile drag strip and turn sub 13 second times consistantly is quite limited . The 12.782 is very quick for such a heavy car ........

thats with the supercharger. at your boost level, what HP are you spinning?
what tires did you run
great times! very fast.
I often do a 60 to 100mph test with the holbert car of around 5.75seconds.
since your 1/8mile times were around 8.0 seconds, you took 4.7 seconds to go from what( 88mph to 109mph)? what was your 1/8 mile speed? was it 88mph? I dont now how to read one of those speed slips.
eitherway, its moving. great job

Kibort , correct about the 88.109 mph to 109.718 Mph 1/8 to 1/4 mile time of 4.46 seconds to increase speed by 21.60 MPH ........ The drag from air resistance is a huge factor . This is but one reason why the Inertial roller dynos (dyno jet) do not simulate real world driving they far too quickly accelerate through the 90 to 110 it is easy to spin them over 200 . Yet as Andy's times point out the engine spends a lot more time pulling in a much smaller rpm band and the fuel requirements may be much different as the engine is under load for a longer period of time . Inertial roller dynos are a quick easy baseline reference for plus or minus BUT no serious engine builders (or auto manufacturers ) actually use them to measure and tune . They are relatively inexpensive , easy to install , and simple to use ........that pretty much sums up their virtues . The old fashioned brake dyno is what you find in a real engine shop and often more than one of them .
