meh. I can see getting tangled on it every time I get in or out of the car, especially if I forget there is a cup there.

i definitely would not recommend this if you suffer from memory loss, lack of vision, or impaired hand eye (foot eye in this case) coordination.

Not sure if I could get a large Tervis Tumbler in there along with my big ****, but I like it. Never would have thought to put one there. They absolutely disappear with your carpet color. Great job.

Thanks! I may have to mess around and try something like that. First I have to get it running. LOL. Getting closer every day. :-)

Looks good but my shoes would probably get snagged when getting our of the car. This is what I use http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/we...1133p.html#srp. Works really well as long as I don't have an adult in the passenger seat.

It's not an issue if there is no drink, but with a drink you just have to be conscious of it being there. I think each approach has its pros and cons.

Default cup holder

I just finished my version of cup holder.
It is mounted on the passenger side shelf close to the tunnel. Pressing the symbol releases it. Spring loaded arms grip the cup. Pushing back the centre locks it in the closed position

I found this style easy reachable from the drivers side, $7 from Autozone etc.

I put the hook Velcro on the backside of an Ultimate Cupholder. It sits on the floor and velcros to the sill carpet. Holds every size can or cup, folds up when not needed, weight is supported by the floor, and is easily reached while driving - works perfectly. Then I dressed them up with some of the aluminum wheel crest labels.
