Default Illuminated 928 In Rear Bumper

Thinking about getting a friend to 3D print clear 928S for the rear bumper. I'm thinking the 928S/S4 could be cut out with a Dremel etc and then the clear printed parts pushed in from behind and glued in place and then electroluminescent tape behind the clear 928 script in whatever color you like. Wire up to taillights.
Thoughts?

Raised letters on a flat back piece and then glue into place.

I personally would be more interested in the 928 number lighting on the door sills like the new Audis do.

I can see how your idea would be kind of neat though.

Red Flash, you can get electroluminescent sheets on E-bay to go under the door sill plates.

Use red colored lights and wire it into your brake light, then it only lights up on brake....I dunno....stop yelling at me!

That's pretty easy with the tape. The stuff I bought is 2" x 12". Ultra thin. My sills are broken but you get the idea.

I have that. Looks nice. Camera doesn't capture the blue properly.

I'm still hoping that someday, someone, somewhere will figure out a way to illuminate the center strip on the GTS rear bumper fascia.

What type of printer does your friend have and what clear material is he using? I'd be curious because the only truly clear 3D printed materials that I am aware of are printed using $100k+ machines. That would be sweet if your friend had that kind of access.

Hey guys, thanks for showing that bit of handywork. It really looks interesting and seems well done. Not sure I can go with blue though, because it might clash with my red paint! :-O

Thanks for the posts and didn't mean to highjack the thread DeWolf!!!

Default Paul and Hans door sill kit

Here's a good old (2010 start) thread on the fiber optic (not EL, corrected!) kit Paul Champagne and Hans had put together for the door sills. Dont know if it is still available. I did finally did get mine installed in the silver car, but I have the sills off at the moment for some interior work and I'm not on the computer with pics of it when it got installed. May be good to revive the thread for those interested:
