Default How much power does a 4.5 liter with two IHI RHB-6 Turbochargers really make?

YOU GUYS KNEW I WOULD BE BACK HERE ONCE I HAD THE PROOF. I AM HOLDING IN MY HOT " ANGRY SPITEFUL LITTLE MAN" HANDS A DYNOJET DYNO SHEET WITH TWO PULLS, ONE AT 8 PSIG AND ONE AT 11-12 PSIG.

NOW, I WILL TRY NOT TO BE TOO MUCH OF A "RICHARD" BUT LETS TAKE A LOOK AT SOME PREVOIUS "SPECULATION" ABOUT THE BASTARD.....YOU GUYS KNOW WHO YOU ARE.....

"We got a solid boost number from one of his own posts, 8psi.

To do the boosted horsepower calculations, one needs to know the normally aspirated engine’s horsepower numbers, and in this case, it’s 220 crank hp.

However, the car in question would not dyno normally aspirated at 220 crank hp because the exhaust manifolds have been changed, and not for the better. Due to space considerations, the current design will allow exhaust gas reversion and exhaust cross-contamination between the same cylinder bank, reducing power potential. I will go easy and say those exhaust manifolds will cost 15 hp at the crank for a new net of 205 crank hp.

According to my calcs, 205 hp at 85% intercooler efficiency will put out 315.59 crank hp, well South of the claimed ‘well North of 375’ crank hp."

SO LET'S HEAR ALL OF THE "SPECULATION" NOW BEFORE I POST THE RESULTS. I SUGGEST YOU NOT FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE ABOVE, OR AT THE VERY LEAST "ROUND UP". DO ANY OF YOU REMEMBER WHAT I SAID ABOUT MID RANGE TORQUE? SO SORRY GUYS BUT NOW IT IS MY TURN....

Ahhh, the suspense mounts. I can't wait to see the chart John. How long do you plan to wait for a response?

Come on, come on. Let's see the numbers before someone gets silly with frustration.

Well looks like Randy V struck down the other post. Good, this is the meatier one, and it's best to keep all responses on one thread.

Come on John PM me the #s. I won't tell anyone.

Yes, a powerful wind is blowing from the east...uh I mean midwest...

I have no scanner, but should be able to get it scanned in for Monday of next week.

I'll let the "omniscient ones" put their $0.02 before I clear The Bastard's name

AARRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I'm leaving work and won't have access to a computer again until Friday.
I knew I shouldn't have checked the board before I left for home.

Of course, now Murphy's Law says you blow up your motor on the way to Kinkos to get the sheets scanned!Just kidding!

This is cool! There has been SOOOOooo much going on in the HP front for the 928, its really pretty exciting!
Come on..Spill it man!

It reminds me of a song "Boot to the head" that played often on the good Dr D show......

Let the drums roll.....

No dyno chart until Monday..... I am waiting for those who have "centrifugally supercharged mouths" to arrive. They always have so much to lend to the discussion on boosting the 928.

To whet the appetite:

300 ft-lbs Rear Wheel Torque @ 3250 RPM
375 ft-lbs Rear Wheel Torque @ 4000 RPM
225 SAE "corrected" RWHP@3500 RPM

Is it, could it be true, have I nearly doubled the crankshaft HP on the US 4.5 liter with less than 1.0 Bar at the manifold??? By the way....NO Euro Heads, NO Euro Throttle Body, NO Euro Intake, NO Cam or Head Work whatsoever...the only internal mod is the Nikasil and the JE 2618 Pistons. 60 F degrees ambient, NO water spray on the intercooler, NO Ice water, straight by the books back to back dyno pulls.

Thus far is is very quiet in America's Dairy Land....

May be someone should Fedex a scanner to John

Better yet...John if you fax it to me I'd be happy to scan it and email it back to you confidentially...promising not to distribute, or share of course.....until you post it yourself

Geez John, something personal?

Great numbers so far. Your motor will be a good test bed for nikasil. Perhaps do the oil analysis like someone else has pursued on here. Would be some really beneficial info..for you and others.

Keep going though as it sounds as if Marc is planning to show more power soon and who knows what the "cheeseheads" are doing now its winter!

John,

I'm excited to hear your results. I too dynoed my car today. Just a teaser, I got 400 RWTQ at 4000 rpm and 300 RWHP at 4000 rpm. I'm running 7 psi with no intercoooler. My engine is stock with no modifications to the engine or fuel/engine management system and it started life at 238 crank hp. I'm runin' one of them there centrifugals though.
