Got up to 138 mph at the Pony Express ORR through the radar trap. I was entered in the 125 mph class, so I was limited to 140 mph max. This was in the 1980 with an 84 Euro S motor. Felt kinda light in the front, but stable at the same time (is that contradictory?). Devek set up the alignment and suspension before the race.
As navigator for George Suennen at the Bonneville 100 ORR, 164 mph. Sort of floated sideways when the wind hit us from the side, somewhat gusty that day. George did great job as driver.
Rich.

About 125 the first week I owned my shark Although I was impressed with the shark prior to that, the confidence with which the car handled 100 and beyond made me appreciate it even more. What's the fastest anyone has gotten their stock U.S. 83-84?

It don't take to long to go from 70-120 IMHO. It kept climbing fast and steady like it can easily do 150.
"What's the fastest anyone has gotten their stock U.S. 83-84"
I heard around 149 in some places.
Thats pretty cool Lizard, don't Sweanders have a pic like that too?

250kmph on public roads (autobahn/Germany and once i Sweden) and the car was steady as a rock! My preferred cruising speed is 180kmph, partly because it's fast enough to get you where you need to go quickly, and partly because it allow me to keep my license after an encounter with the boys in blue.
A lot of people find that offensive, but seriously, the speed limits in most countries were designed to
1) Match the lowest common denominator (E.g. Fiat Panda, Trabby etc.)
2) Get the most votes
IMHO it rarely has anything to do with safety. I am no more reckless going 180kmph in a 928 than a small-wheel-base-****ty-handling-without-brakes-Fiat-Panda doing the accepted 110kmph. I get pulled over, he doesn't, fine, I can live with that, but spare me the pathetic preaching.
(As a side note, one of the most aggressive politicians in DK as far as reducing speed limits goes recently got pulled over doing 170kmph in a 110 zone - that put a smile on my face for a couple of days )

Top speed, just shy of 140MPH, on the speedo.
At 130MPH (indicated), recently, I felt confident enough in how stable it was to be able to drive left handed, so I could watch the air/fuel meter in the ashtray with my peripheral vision.
She went 156MPH (at redline = 6200) on the dyno.

Funny you'd ask. Saturday morning I went out to try my GT. Got caught doing 79 mph in a 55 zone. We had a nice talk. I mentioned how not all drivers are of the same caliber. He agreed, and handed me my ticket. And since then I haven't done anything but curse and be scared, just like the law is designed to do. Darn it, I want to drive! I used to live right near Laguna Seca, but up here there's absolutely nothing. So, it's time for a Valentine, or some such device. Up here, my biggest concern is having a deer step out. Deer alerts are on my list, also.
I've done 130 in the '79. Climbs right up, very quickly. But now that I'm aware that the highway patrol cars drive around with their radars on all of the time, I'm much more leery.
On my Norton 850, I've done 135. That, I'll never ever do again. I was in my twenties, when life means nothing.
