Contact PCNA marketing department, they might be up for arranging a nationwide roadshow tour at their dealerships. Champion Porsche by me (SoFl) are always showing interesting customer cars in their showroom and at their events. Or how about contacting PCA for some ideas. This thing definitely shouldn't sit in a bubble for years to come.

Better yet - put it on loan to the Porsche North American Headquarters in Atlanta. They have a number of cars on display here from owners.

Maybe you can work out a deal and get some road test time on the experience center.

FYI I downloaded all the pictures presented in the BAT ad to add to my reserve of photo documentation for 944s. I am sure they will prove to be invaluable. Just seeing the well preserved factory assembly line paint markings on the fasteners, etc. is worth it's weight in gold. The previous owner did a nice job on the photos but they could only be downloaded at medium resolution. If you were to take a bunch of high res photos and make them available you would be my hero, that's for sure.

I'm sure you know that every rubber part on the car is suspect at this point. Even if you just start the car to drive onto a trailer, you probably need to consider changing the timing belt and the rubber fuel hoses, especially the ones that jump from the fender well over the exhaust manifold to the fuel rail. The tires are way out of date also.

I had dinner with the owner's widow last summer. It is sort of sad/amusing that the reason the car never got driven is because he bought the car for her. She didn't like it that much and it just never got driven.

So I would vote for trailer/concours circuit. There's something about that 3 digit mileage that is amazing. You'll probably never have to buy a round of drinks!

I agree, you need to preserve it and show it. It is funny that the coa refers to the car coming with Fuchs. This car is so original and beautiful that it unfortunately should not become a driver. It can never be returned to this condition.

Like has been said, this is a well known (right now, maybe one of the best known) 944's in the community. I'm sure you know this, and can see from the multitude of threads about it on here.

If you keep it around and out and about in the PCA and show circuit, it's likely Garnet may just become the 944 mascot. I do vote for keeping the miles to 3 digits if you can. There's just something about it that keeps her special. Keep us posted! We all want to follow her story!

Another vote for preserve and show. How many ultra low mileage 944's could be left? This is a piece of Porsche history at this point and deserves to be treated as such.

Drive it some, 3 digits is over rated IMO, it should be driven some so its systems continue to work properly. Not huge amounts or anything, but it should see a little bit of use to shows, stretch its legs a little bit on the highway. Keep it clean, don't tailgate and just enjoy it.

as for the above statement, am thinking we have more than enough 'clapped out drivers' with crappy paint, worn and trashed interiors, and worn out componentry.

It is refreshing to see a well preserved specimen as it appeared when produced; I think it's ok we have probably less than a small portion of 1 % such as this 600 miler. Something to use as a sounding board.

( don't let your envy get your pants in a twist on such a great presentation; it's HARDLY a waste of a great car. Embrace the moment with joy (-; and appreciate it's beauty. They are only original once )

It certainly is refreshing to see such a well-preseved example, yes, compared to the clapped out ****-buckets that pop up from time to time.

However..."our cars were made to be driven, not polished"...

Concours makes no sense to me...why spend large amounts of money NOT to use something and only show it off a few times a year? Can you think of any other commodity item that is treated the same way?

This follows my mantra of avoiding PCA events "because it's not just the old 911s that are spewing hot air"...

To the OP...drive it, or sell it to someone who will.

I am all for driving these cars, but with all due respect this is not a car to be driven. It is and was a show piece. Think of it like a fine painting, not a car. At this point it will not make a good driver without a lot of work and destruction of its originality.

that analogy would work if a 944 was a one-of-a-kind item.
but a photo of the mona lisa still shows you what it looks like without having to go to the louvre.

this one is rare because of its condition, but its still just a car, one of 160,000+ produced over 10 years...it deserves to be preserved and maintained, but deserves to be USED as well.

I see your point, but my point is that this car is a one of a kind due to its mileage etc.... Just as you said the Mona Lisa has many copies and has many photos, but there is only one original. To me looking at photos would suffice and is just as good as looking at the original and to others there is no comparison. It is the same with this car.
