RESPECT. French Turbo Cup Cars.
"On dry tracks, the Cup cars were run on Magnesia alloys (8/9 X 16”) equipped with Slicks (245/255 ZR 16). The cars weighed in at 1160kg’s and put down 305bhp @ 5900rpm and 420Nm @ 3800rpm resulting in serious performance figures: The sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h (60mph) was done in only 4.4 s, a kilometer from standstill took 22.8s and top speed was 300+ km/h (The cars were clocked at 305km/h on the famous Hunaudières in Le Mans).
The history of the Turbo Cup Cars is unknown to many Porsche enthusiasts although the Turbo Cup was the first of the nowadays very popular one make race series that Porsche carried out and although the French Cup cars outperformed the 964 Carrera Cup cars which are extremely popular and getting more and more expensive nowadays."

Interesting, 0.45s into that video shows they ran Agip Oil SAE 10W50. I also see staggered wheels and an interesting strut brace amongst other things. Thanks for sharing

And didn't they all have 16 x 8 & 9" wheels?
Cool cars, cool series!
Some of them still make regular appearances at events, which is fun.

Welded brackets...believe that was done at the factory.
8"/9" wheels...correct. Fuchs for '86 and Teledials for '87+.

Also, iirc the Teledials were different to the regular cars, weren't they magnesium?

Most likely!
Interesting that in the dry they ran a 245/45 and 255/40.
Yes, Magnesium and late offset only. I am not sure if they are forged or cast. Earlier Porsche Mg wheels were cast (Mahle "gas-burners"), while later ones were forged (multipiece Speedline cups)
Quite light I imagine, but I also imagine a few dozen cracked.
I think most or all were delivered in Pearl White. However, as can be seen in the video, teams usually painted them to match the car. Some of the wheels got quite the paintjob, as shown by the cup car currently on display at the museum.
Note that "Pinky" does not wear these polka-dot wheels in the above video!
