Play in torque tube shaft after new clutch

Need a sanity check. I did the clutch on my NA and am currently waiting on my new trans mounts.
When I grab the coupler sleeve between the transaxle and torque tube (transaxle installed and clamp bolts at 58 ft-lbs) there's a little slack and I can easily spin the the whole torque tube shaft by hand strength. It's only a few degrees each way but it got my attention. Is this normal for a spring centered clutch disc? Everything has been done by the book. I'm going to punch someone in the face if I have to tear into it again.

Michael: I can understand your concern.. On the vehicles that I have done clutches on in the past, with the transmission bolted to the engine, we always assumed that the lash was always in the transmission gears and paid no attention to it. I don't think that you have done anything wrong. the disc should be heavily clamped by the pressure assembly and easy movement should be minimal.. You are probably taking up the slack from the springs in the clutch disc. there may be some, but if it springs back, that would be where the compression of the compensating springs starts.. Those springs are not under a lot of tension when they are just sitting around. I would run it, and keep an eye on it.. strange though...perhaps Van or Marc Abrams could comment .

Totally normal. I had an old spring center disk laying around, I put the spline hub in the vice, and there's definitely a few degrees of play before the damper springs get compressed.

okay fine...you win.
ill climb under my car tonight and check my spring-center shaft play just to add confusion to the matter.
nothing to see here...
just a bunch of dudes on the internet clutching their spring-centered shafts looking for play.

Thanks for the video man!
It certainly seems similar to the slop I'm getting, although mine seems to be a little more. Maybe it's an optical illusion.

I'm surprised you get any play. I never paid any attention when I did my last clutch.
In Van's video he is getting some torque advantage. You don't really get that
trying to turn the shaft itself. Oh well, give it a drive and see how she does.

I've been fondling my shaft more and it just doesn't seem as stiff as I think it should be.

I've had that kind of lash on a used disk but not on a new one. I'm saying my shaft twists less than yours. Was your disk brand new or rebuilt/relined?
