Default SPEC Push Type clutch kits for NA 944's

SPEC is finishing up another of our requests which was to build "push" type clutch kits for the 944 NA's like they did for the 944T.

We should be shipping kits in a week or two.

Although we don't have pictures yet, the web page is started and there is part numbers with prices already listed. Pics, specs and capabilities will be added soon. Click Here to see.

They will be very similar to the turbo version. Lightweight Pressure Plate with aluminum cover, Billet Steel Flywheel, and Hydraulic Kit for doing away with the clutch fork and slave cylinder system. We understand the 944 fork is no longer available like the turbo.

SPEC says there isn't a 944 on the planet that will need more then their stage 1. Unless of course you boost it.

Pricing on the kits for now is the same as the Turbo kits even though they cost a little more to produce says SPEC.

So if your 924S, 944, 944S or 944S2 is in need of a clutch, it's a new option you now have.

NICE! I was bummed when these were not originally offered for the N/A guys. Thank you for leading the way on this.

The incentive to produce the turbo kit in the first place was the clutch fork UN-availability. It seemed like such a gook kit and idea, the we asked them for a NA kit. The fact that the fork is now an issue just happened to work out timing wise.

For the S2 kit, I assume the flywheel has the 60-2 trigger wheel machined into it. Very intrigued by this. How much torque do you think the stage 3 could hold? (thinking boosted S2)

Don't know yet details about the 16v flywheels. We suspect a price bump, like going from the 8v to 16v now. We will try to get more details.

The turbo kits were holding 75 ft. lbs. more then the pull type with the same stage disc. So assuming it's a slightly smaller diameter disc, maybe they will be 65ish range more then how they rate their current SP-31x kits. We will press them for those numbers when kits are shipping in the near future.

Awesome, I'll be keeping these in mind for the future. Looks like a great way to simplify the clutch, and I'm always a fan of simple.

Ok, dumb question... What is a push type clutch and what are the differences to the regular clutch?
Sorry I had to ask.

This is something that is easier to understand when you see it rather than to explain in words. When you press on the clutch pedal the pressure plate is "pushed" on by the release bearing to release the clutch instead of being "pulled" on by the release bearing. Supposed to be more efficient and doesn't require the center pivoting clutch fork to convert a push from the slave cylinder into a pull at the clutch pressure plate. Hope my explaination helps you visualize it.
