Early transaxle mounts - repair or replace?

I bought the semi-solid mounts that Pelican sells. They're pricey but worth it to me. Make a wee bit more noise (more noticeable gear whine) but no more vibration than stock.
Would buy them again, but probably will never have to.

Agh... ok, I decided to just install as-is and install some good used mounts + urethane as time permits. The 951 is sucking up my car funds...

Aside from the Pelican mounts I've not heard of anyone having issues with the early type mounts as they hang the trans so "solidly" from the car.
99% of the noise is regarding the 85.5+ banana-hammock.

The early mounts really do seem to be a much better design in terms of keeping the transaxle in place. It makes you wonder why they made the change. Cost or ease of assembly, I assume.

I always thought it was due to the gas tank update - it's the only other part in that area that changed. So the later mount has less NVH?
