Reverse lights stay on when car is turned off, 1989 944 S2
Hi guys, I like to put the car in reverse gear when parked as a back up to the parking brake. I noticed on my 944 S2 the reverse lights are staying on, even when the car is turned off, key removed, doors locked. What would be causing this?
On a possibly related note, I woke up this morning to a dead battery, and I had the shifter in 1st and car parked.
Maybe the ignition switch is bad? Or a stuck relay?

Don't know if this applies to an S2, but on my 86 G14 relay turns on with the ignition switch. Maybe it is stuck closed or is being energized somehow. Pull that relay and see if your backup lights go out. If so diagnose from there.

FYI I cleaned and checked the door switches, the interior lights do turn off as expected, but other systems listed do not get un-powered and it drains my battery.
I also tried tapping all of the relays under the hood with the back of a screwdriver but still have the power issue.
Pulled relay G14, as well as a few others, but had no effect.

Late 944 wiring diagrams are tough to read. Here's a few things to try. There a extra connections for the automatic transmission try looking there. Try unplugging the wiper, light, dimmer, and turn signal switches and see if the problem goes away. I'm trying to find the common denominator between the HVAC and reverse lights.

Fuse 28 doesn't fix the issue. If I put my hand on relay G14 (relay X) I can feel it click when I turn off the ignition. However the accessories noted stayed charged. Measured 0.A current draw from battery with car off keys out.
