Are all 944 n/a slow????

Whenever people hear what kind of car I own (OMG! A PORSHHH?!?!), it's immediatly followed by "How fast is it?" I often find myself answering the question by saying "well, it's not so fast in a straight line, but in the corners..."

You have GOT to understand that its all a matter of opinion. I personnaly don't like Lexus, and I think that aside from Porsche, the best car manafacturer for the money is Mazda. The 6 is a great car, as is the RX-8, the Protege 5, and even the older Mazda's. All of them handle great and accelerate great for what they are. They are dependable, fast, comfortable, sporty, and nice looking. Good gas mileage, lots of good stuff.
Just my $.02
And yes, the GT3 will be a full production car. Its like the little brother of the GT2...

we are building a racecar come next year. It will be a Vovlo 242GT body stripped (nothing in it maybe 2,500lbs) and will use a Volvo BF230T (I think that right) engine with NPR intercooler and a Moddified 15G turbo with modified crank, head and pistons it should be around 400hp. The car's suspention will be LOTS OF IPD parts and should make for around 1 lateral g on street tires..

Awesome post. To add my ¢2:
would a modern-day Honda beat a 944 NA in a 1/4 mile? Yes
would a modern-day ANYTHING put a ****-eating grin on your face when taking a corner at 25 mph like a 944 NA does?
....no

Three Wheelin'
Alot of people's argument defending the 944 is that it may be slow but get it on a track or an Auto-X course it will lay the smack down. I have personally seen tons of cars like Hondas, Peugots..ect...that everyone refers to lay the smack down on tracks. I am not talking about highly modded cars. Just stock or lightly modded. You would be surprised how fast a 320 diesel can go around the Nurburgring with a good driver in it!

yeah, S2 is 3L, as is the 968(almost called the 944S3... so that rules it out for your car), so maybe you have the 944S.5 (944 n/a with 3.0l... is yours twin cam?), ok whatever, just going for historical accuracy.

What type of civic do you exactly have?? I have a 1991 honda civic 5spd and there is no way in hell my car can even touch my dads 1983 5spd 944. I mean in acceleration and in cornering. Mind my civic is stock. I used to own a 1994 honda accord which was done out to the yingyang and still no way it would touch the 83 944. I am guessing you have driven very very poor specimens of the 944. See if a rennlister is in your area, b/c these guys have the best of the best and I am sure they would glady give you a boot in their 944.
My old accord
Dads 1983 944

Can't stop the thread now. Do we need a poll?
I will have to disagree with this flat out statement by Terminator. I've had plenty of grins from other cars and a lot of them have been 15 years ago never mind today. I still remember my first ride in a prelude with a good driver and the time I sat in with a guy doing an auto-x in a prelude with 13" rims!!! I thought we were going to die! But that car stuck like glue.
We won't even take this conversation to motorbikes, which have a grin factor all their own.
Enjoy your car, but don't put down anything else ever made. I'm sure the other owners are doing the same thing on their boards.
Oh, yes, there was this guy in a stock acura Integra at the last track event that kept up with a 951. He was smiling a lot when he came out of the car Mind you , it was a shorter track with limited hi-speed sections. But nobody lost that guy in a corner.
