Default you guys are the smartest car people i know please help!!

this problem is with my Audi A4. i posted it on a Audi board and those guys are really only familier with modifactions.

a couple days ago i started noticing a hum coming from the back ride side of my car. well today i decided to figure out what is causing this. i began by removing my right rear wheel. i first noticed that there was a little more brake dust then usuall. after removing the wheel, with the e-brake off, i tried spinning the disc. i barely could move it. to do a comparison test i did the same thing with the left side and was easily able to rotate the disc. what could be causing this hold up on the right disc?

is the cable for the ebrake in the center rusted or stuck?? Could be a bad hose going to your caliper which would make the fluid not be able to return to the master and hold the brake on....

Could be that the caliper is just frozen. Disassemble clean and reassemble.

Did u just do a brake job ? Try these hints. put the e brake on, now try to spin both sides, do both lock up? . without the car running and no one on the brake ,e brake off- crack the bleeder valve and close quickly- does wheel spin ? if so bad hose - highly doubful tho. next try to loosen adjustment on ebrake-after u do this try turning the rotor backwards -does it turn ? if so bad cable e brake. if still locked up bad caliper, which these cars are noted for.

Have a look at how corroded the piston is in that caliper. Since you live where winter gets truly nasty, you may have a bit of a mess, corrosion-wise. Worst-case scenario, you may have to replace the calipers.

The "hum" you describe makes me think first of a bearing. With the wheel off the ground, grab the tire at top and botton and see if you have any play. A bearing bad enough to be noisy should show itself readily.
