Question for all: I use PETG to print the parts, it's resistant to temperatures found in the car (unlike PLA) and is pretty strong (also unlike PLA). Anyone else use PETG, thoughts?
I used petg before switching to nylon. Nylon with carbon fiber ftw

Nylon is supposedly one of the hardest materials to print via FDM printers. Any tips? If I recall, I had trouble getting it to stick to the bed and also with warping.

My favorite for strength, appearance, and easy of printing is Formfutra ApolloX, but I have to admit I haven't tried anything new in a few years.

Solved the warping issue with bed glue and I try to keep the material away from moisture. The carbon fiber really helps with the quality of the print

Ok, so I need to replace my lower steering column bushing (the one that goes in the firewall) and I am being told it is NLA from Porsche.
It's a big honking donut that accepts a needle bearing in the middle - probably 2.5" OD thereabouts. Is this something that could be 3d-printed ?

What does it look like and what is it made of? What is part number?

Part number I find in PET is 477.419.059, and still shows as available from multiple sources, around $120 or so.

Does it look like this? If this is it, I'm not sure ABS or Nylon would hold up since the original appears to be steel.. You'd probably need it made of Ultem or PEEK, etc. if printed.

I could model it easy enough and print it in ABS. I don't have access to an Ultem printer any longer (left that job).

I placed an order for one yesterday and was told by the vendor that Porsche is out of stock.

Plenty of places list the PN# but they all have to order it from Porsche N.A.

Can you re-use the housing and just replace the bearing?

Maybe. The Bearing itself is actually fine but there is a plastic ring between the needle bearing and the outer housing that goes into the firewall.
Seeing if i can come up with something...

I can print an ABS plastic ring if you need it. I'd just need the dimensions.

Default 3D 924 trim caps

Having had no luck to find either new or used, I thought 3D printing might be an answer. I figured it would take me a big part of the year to get a satisfactory outcome. Then I came across this thread.

Would somebody be interested in making, or helping me make these caps? They are 477-853-735 (left front/right rear) and 477-853-736 (right front/left rear), and they hold the body clad trim on. Parts 6 & 7 on the diagram.

I'm not sure they would fit a 944.

Do you have an old one to reverse engineer? That would be required to make the model.

I have the 3 on the car. I'll have to drill the rivets to get them off.

Unless somebody has one of a parts car that they could lend me?
