For a mirror they are staggeringly heavy...

Ah, so the list you put together is made of the components and values that could have those weights you posted?

That makes more sense.

No everything take one of yours off and weigh if it's really important to you?

That AFM looks like it is ready to invade Poland.

I don't have time or will to search and weight my old mirrors, but Im sure mirrors are not the only erroneous data in your list.

I like the project and your goals of pure NA car, but IMHO you are a bit overexcited and overaggressive over all this.

There was a lot of similar projects over the years here and posted results so expectations for your mods and performance figures you can get from them are pretty accurate.

There was even one Swede from Spain that made 900kg 944 made mostly of carbon fibre.

Why are the predicted figures from the Motley crew below higher ?

No, that is on the wheels. It is explicitly stated on the website that 163 ps (flywheel) car dyno between 140-150 whp on their machine.

S2s are around 190 whp, so +16 hp more than that 2.5l, hence you could say that 174 whp means 211-16=195 bhp, I guess.

Because your car has other modifications and larger displacement. Your tune will get you some power, even with the AFM, even though it's not ideal. I believe in the 174bhp on a stock 2.5 if it had the mods listed on the Augtronic site. My car has all the tuning they've listed, down to the balance shaft delete. Driving a stock 944 NA feels weird, like there's a plug in the tail pipe...

You have to pick between posting stuff that is accurate and relevant or posting stuff you make up. If you mix both, you loose credibility.

Incredibility is the word!

Maybe that on the list!

I look forward to opening this thread up every couple of hours and browsing through the hilarity that ensues. This is one of the most ridiculous threads in recent times. It beats the Extrude honed intake rant and even narrowly eeks out the AFM "debate" in terms of lulz/page.

Yeah are you sure it wont be 500kg lighter? You can shave another 100kg from the roof just by stating it was 100kg before you work your magic to it.

Just because the topic is now weight loss, I thought I'd post some details on my "diet" since I believe I have one of the lighter turbo street cars here.

Headlight mechanism delete---???
headlight motor delete---???
oil only cooled turbo/turbo water line and pump delete---??
HVAC/blower motor/ heater core delete---??
A/C and condensor delete---??
manual steering---??
ISV delete---??
AFM delete---??
DME/KLR delete---??
Distributor delete--??
headlight washer system delete---??
windshield washer system delete--??
Factory airbox delete--??
Body undertray delete--??
lightweight wiring harness---??
Rear wiper/motor delete---??
manual sunroof/stripped panel---??
emissions system delete--??
100% stripped interior/center console/doors/sound deadening, ect---??
semi stripped dashboard---??
lightened exhaust---??
cat delete---??
6 lb flywheel---??
cloth interior door pulls/handles---??
single lightweight racing seat---??
sheet metal lightening---??
Nearly all thermal insulation deleted--??

I have no idea what all that weighs, but my car STILL tips the scales at ~2600 lbs. Since it was 2900 lbs stock, I lost 300 lbs and the only thing I havnt done is fiberglass fenders and lexan to replace the glass.

Oh yeah, and the car is 350+ rwhp
