This is a car which does not show the authenticity of a true 924SE car. There is a lot of non standard things which never came on them from the factory; they are items added on by some other owner or the guy selling the car currently.

Should be no signature behind the shifter, has the wrong seats, wrong wheels, wrong decal placement, and the added on passenger mirror to name a few items.

The electric mirror adjuster you show on the other photo is indicative of an after sale mod, maybe dealership, maybe consumer. But no SE car came from Porsche with a right hand mirror into America. There was scuttlebutt about them not meeting DOT requirements on this and the word I heard at our dealership was that these circumvented that req. by stating they were to be used on track as a car used in the SCCA race series and got by with that lingo. I think a lot of cars in different markets got a dealer treatment to move them off the floor, but I am stating what I know from the experience I am associated with in our dealership and with the known document of advertising I have in my possession. Plus the Yellow and Blue Price guide book dated the summer of 1988 listing options and deletes on these models.

VERY cool..... it's getting to be a big city now. Glad I don't live there. Too much blehhhhhh going on with politics, flood control diversion issues, hideous influx of bangers from Mpls., Chicago, and the west coast. Vermin migrating thru trying to set up turf to ply their illegal trade. Police can't put 'em away fast enough. And, they're doing it too, much to their credit.

When did you make the escape ?

I get out of the valley and head to Marco as soon as the below zero b.s. starts. Otherwise it's a great area to raise family and we have a very ardent and enthusiastic local Porsche Club out of the Mpls./ St.Paul area. Very track oriented and full of social and track events to attend. Big club but very friendly and safety based in ethic.

As to the fabric, I cannot find the link, but if you do a bit of searching there is a company in Europe that remakes it. It isn't exact, but VERY close in color and pattern..... they do it for all the Jubilee cars and some of the more rare euro looks in cloth that came in these cars. VERY expensive stuff, but worth it if you want it authentic.

And in similar fashion, a factory 924 SE carries the M756 code on its options sticker.

Interior would need seatback on drivers seat and rear seatback redone. 66K miles. Owner doesn't know it is an SE and I didn't tell him. I only wanted it if I could get seats redone. Material is rare. Found some but expensive. 240 Euro a meter. Car is in Myrtle Beach on eBay. Listed 4K buy now 5K no bids. Relisted 3950 start. Video of him driving it. Sounds like something noisy at idle. Maybe belt too tight? or loose? Anyone who wants an SE for track should check it out.

I worked for Heishman P-A in the 70's but left to work in industry. Didn't care for having to work on Saturdays. Heishman was a race-AX oriented dealership. My "mentor" was an accomplished SCCA racer and AX'r. He moved into the GM position in the late 80's. He found the car I now own at the original Manheim auction in 1990. He bought the car for AX use campaigning it up until 2002. I bought the car from him in 2006 with 80,000 miles.

To finally answer your question, the documents etc. that I was given came from my GM friend at Heishman P-A. Name: WP_20160105_002.jpg

Is material usually sold in square yards/meters? Can one m^2 cover the seat/backrest for one seat? If so, about $550 in material for both seats?

If done well, I would value those [then excellent] M990 script seats around $1600, maybe $1800.

Is that for complete covers with cloth script inserts and vinyl bolsters?

Would it be possible to source the script material and reuse the original vinyl/leatherette? That would probably save at least $1000.

If the rest of that car checks out, I would consider sourcing solid, used, leather or leatherette seats, front and rear, for ~$1000, until you find a nicer set of script seats or re-cover the ones you have.

I have one of those goofy cars as well . I love that thing. Something about the agile character puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Mine has passenger side mirror and was installed at the same time judging by the OE look. I am waiting my turn for a spot in line at a custom interior shop in my hood that is always overflowing with early 356, speedsters etc. I cant believe the guy is actually excited about redoing my interior. My car is in great shape and everything besides the light seat tops are great. I bought material from 924 werks.com.. great seller. communications were great. I didnt know how much material I bought untill i unrolled and found 14 ft by 4 ft. I cant wait to get the seats done. such a cool car.
