87 924S died and I can't figure it out...Please help
I just recently had a new clutch installed on my perfectly operational 924s.
Sunday morning (2 weeks ago) I took the car out for a drive and it just quit running on me as I was cruising at 60mph in 5th. I sat stranded for about 15 mins. and the car finally started. I made it back home fine.
Last Friday I decided to take the car to work. The drive to work was uneventfull. I went to leave the office and made it 20 feet out of my parking place and she quit running again. I had the car towed home and worked on it over the weekend.
I have determined that I do have spark when turning the engine over. I have tried a spare dme relay and still have the same problem. I did fabricate a jumper for all 3 pins of the DME relay and the fuel pump runs fine. I have removed the end of the fuel rail and get a nice surge of fuel. I have tried replacing both the Fuel pressure regulator and dampner and still have my problem.
I am pointing my finger at the DME, but hope that's not the problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me to try?

Jason, I 've got 1 word. Coil.
Thats exactly what mine did .
I went thru the DME, relay, fuel pump, spark, fuel delivery and on and on, it was then towed to my mech- he put in new Bosch coppers and a coil. That's it.

well, if the coil is weak it wont run/start., also check the battery cables, thats what happened to mine, started slow, then eventually not at all, ended up being loose bat. cables...also check coil wire!!

I once put a clutch in an early 944, weeks later the car stopped running.I found that one of the weld points inside of the wiring harness had pulled loose when the cluth was done because the harness was disturbed.

S&R sensors, or DME relay.. the sensors become more of a suspect due to clutch replacement. symptoms are classic dme system, so check all the things the guys suggested.

There are 16 test points on the Porsche factory DME testing procedure. The x-y chart lists 13 of these as having to do with no start or dying.
Suspecting the sensors after a clutch job is the first thing that comes to mind. The car starts cold but after it warms up and that big chunk of aluminum expands the sensors move just enough to either kill the engine or keep it from starting.
Broken wires in the sensors from being removed and reinstalled is a close second.
