Plasti Dip will hold up pretty well, even on the stuff you touch often, but it will eventually start to wear/flake off.

Yeah I figured as much, that's why I wanted to try a quick solution to see how long 15 minutes of work would last. I think I'll redo it if it lasts a year, or at least this could be something the try before you fully commit to a color. lol

FWIW, I plastidipped a brown early dash to black about a year ago and it looked very, very similar to a factory black dash. In fact, I probably couldn't tell them apart. The plastidip shows the underlaying surface effects (or defects...) to a high degree.

Oh snap. Now that's an even bigger project. I got a window switch trim piece coming that's brown and I want to make it black so I will use the dip. I'm going with a brown switch - black trim piece to make a contrast and to make the black switches more identifiable. LOL they gave the switch no light and put it in the best place ...... not. ha

Looks really good! Although I must correct you, the 924 already had all black interior panels. The 944 switched to the silver/platinum colour, which I agree looks a bit tacky and dated now.

You should also consider 924S gauges which are white on black.

I would need to do more research to check what cars got the green on black gauges, but my previous '80 924 turbo had them, as did the guy who posted this on FB today. Both cars are from the UK although mine was imported into New Zealand in 1989. These gauges are my favourite of all the early dash cars.
