How badly killed was your last engine?
I know the rod died and the crank probably too but...hows the block and pistons?

Spencer, Block and oil pan got the worst of it. Engine is removed but sitting in the engine bay unattached to anything. Been busy with my NA and with school so I havnt pulled it apart yet even though its been sitting for 8 months. Part of the problem is the 951 is in Houston and I'm 3 hours away. Most likely the crank is toast, definitely one rod is toast. I dont know the condition of the other 3 rods or any of the pistons. The timing belt somehow didnt break so I'm thinking the head is fine, though it was in need of new stem seals and guides before and some water got into the head while it was in storage so it looks like at least all the intake valves rusted, havnt checked the exhaust valves. So who knows maybe the head isnt worth saving either.

The block/crank I have up for sale now is not the 951 blocks, it came from an 85.5 parts car. I just dont need it, I have a line on a cheap 83 motor and a set of 951 rods and pistons, so I might just swap the rotating parts out, change the rod bearings, reseal the front end/oil cooler, put a new HG/belts/WP on it and call it a day. The max I want to spend on a ready-to-run motor for the 951 is about 1000 bucks.

Goddamnit...flahtnbualjskghbg I DO! But that would blow my budget sky high. Right now its looking like I can get the complete 83 motor + 951 rods and pistons for about 400 dollars. With all new seals/HG/WP/bearings/belts I have a running 951 motor for less than my 1000 dollar budget. My plan is to simply drill and tap the upper balance shaft housing for the oil feed and either drill and tap the 83 oil pan for the oil drain, or locate an 85.5+ pan thats already factory tapped. Boom, cheap 951 engine with factory cross drilled crank! Only downside is I wont have a 951 head on it, but that's not a big deal.

Noah you need to buy Doug's 16v stuff! I don't think he can stand having a slower 944 than me for much longer

(Doug we need to race the 4runner against your NA next)

LOL, yeah it whooped the minivan's *** but I think the 'yota will put up a better fight. Anywho, I have some other 16v stuff as well such as belt drive sprockets needed to convert an 8v. I'll do 900+ shipping for every 16v component I own if someone wants to buy everything I have and have everything they need to convert the car minus the intake and pistons.

951 Pistons won't fit in an 83 block with the proper clearance. Last I checked I believe they were the exact same size. An 83 block has a zero stamped on the Pistons indicating its tolerance group. The turbo Pistons have a one stamped on top. Side note: I seen an 84 factory cross drilled crankshaft on eBay right now for something like $90. Might want to look.

That's just because your particular block was tolerance group 0, whether the pistons I have access to will fit the block I have access to or not is simply a matter of if they are matching tolerance groups. No reason 951 pistons wont fit in an early block.
