Ok, this SUCKS & WILL NOT END WELL.

Firstly, the brazing of cast DID NOT WORK. Wrong rod? Not enough heat? Operator error maybe....

So I bought this jar of crap...

Now I'm trying to reinforce it. NOT going to be successful, as one of the cracks just became a hole... I need a manifold or header. Sheeeeet!

It looks like the wrong brazing rod was used. The only difference between a braze and a solder is a brazing filler metal becomes liquid at 840*F. It looks like yours wicked out at well below that temp. A successful braze also needs a capillary effect to produce a strong joint so if the crack was ground out this could be the problem. Hard to tell from the pictures. Welding with a nickel rod as mentioned earlier would have been ideal.

Decided to stick original 4 speed, because that's how it came from the factory.

Found an army bag, that suits Gramps I think. Planning on doing lots of short drives with tools to see for leaks & whatnot.

Yeah, not sure how thing will turn out, but it'll be fun to experience & I suspect the box is rebuilt or nearly new. The oil and the exterior of the case are really nice.

J1,

A quick buff & she's as good as new

Every Porsche deserve love, just some of these cars make you work a lot harder before they reciprocate!

So, after a couple of hours scouring the internets I came up empty handed finding an exhaust manifold. I would still like one and maybe one will find it's way to my parts shelf, then one day find it's way under the bonnet. Until day that day comes, MSDS headers will perform the task. Should be here in 10 days.
----
They say there header kit is a "bolt on but without the oxygen tube fitting", The collector is 2.5"

I don't suspect all will be a simple bolt in because my exhaust already has a cat delete & has been modified by previous people.

2.5" is bigger than stock but will be easy to adapt.

Can anyone provide a link, or simply explain to me the role of the oxygen tube from exhaust to engine? Gramps has that and I probably want to retain it, no?

I suspect that's a reference to the bung for the O2 sensor.

Found this page: http://www.924.org/techsection/3fuel... Oxygen sensor

Assuming you have one, you're best off welding in a bung downstream of those headers for a good reading. Tip: you can go to your local auto parts store and pick up some cheap spark plug anti-foulers like these:
Amazon.com: Dorman 42009 Spark Plug Non-Fouler - 18mm Gasket Seat, Pack of 2: Automotive Amazon.com: Dorman 42009 Spark Plug Non-Fouler - 18mm Gasket Seat, Pack of 2: Automotive

Spark plugs have the same thread pitch as most O2 sensors.
