Yep prices can be all over the board on these cars, I watched one just like mine on Ebay NOT sell for 6k! the seller did list some of the issues it has which to me are minor but that's why I will start high and see were it goes. I don't need to sell and not in a hurry. My car is mechanically near perfect and I have documented everything I have done to ad to the documentation that came with the car.

Here's a money shot...

said it in the other thread. fantastic looking, great wheels and uncommon color. so used to seeing them in black (mine). hope you get the money you are looking for.

wonder how it would look with the wheels from the other blue 951?

my first cabby was black and i loved it but could not bare to store it outside during the winter. I have more space now so I can have more cars!
here is a pic of the car when I first got it with the BBS sport classics, I like the current wheels better, I think 944's look good with a little lip rather than the flat face.

If BAT is any indication at all S2 cabs are going through the roof, most times selling for more to quite a bit more than very nice Turbos.

I've watched them all over the map though from 7-8k with needs, $12-18k are where a bunch of nice ones land and I've seen several sell in the high 20's. All things considered if it's in exceptional shape at that 6k miles and you get it for $19k you probably haven't overpaid. You absolutely need to do those belts before it moves though, call it your "get to know her" date.

As for the detractors, I wonder if they have actually driven one? No, they aren't quite as bank vault-like as the coupes, but all being late S2's that 3.0 is a freaking freight train. Some of us like 'verts, some hate them. Given that there were SO fewer made their value to those that do is higher.

A whole lot will have to go very wrong before mine leaves her garage to find out just what the market is ;-)

I agree with doing the belts, mileage isn't an issue but time is, things just tend to age even when sitting I doubt the tensioner pads will need to be done but unless the documentation says that it has been checked, I would. you can also pretty up the valve cover. When I bought mine the PO said he had it checked out by his reputable Porsche mechanic but when I got it home I found lots of little things that should not have been overlooked by a "reputable" mechanic. here is a pic of what the chain tensioner pads looked like:

they should look like this:

some of us are just addicted to 944's and have to have more than one, so I have a few!

There is a 88 S for sale in my area same color I would love to buy but too many cars right now and they are asking 9k.

Those pads look pretty decent but I would have changed them when I had a chance. The plastic is porous and gets dark pretty fast.

Given the limited numbers, while not air cooled, I am hopeful (and optimistic!) that the Cabs will find a niche' in the collectors world in the near future.
