This morning I spent about an hour trying to repair the damage from a car that backed into mine yesterday while at work. Apparently it was a blue car but took off afterwards. As far as damage goes:

- There's a chip the size of a quarter on the passenger quarter panel of my car about 8-10" above my rear sidemarker light that I had to touch up

- There are scoff marks on the flare right behind the wheel well but were removed with Meguiars scratch-x.

I can't find the car cuz the f*cker ran off but I can't believe people are so carefree in this world to hit your car and take off. it makes me so angry! Now I really have to repaint my car cuz its lost its essence.

Man, that sucks about your car. I had someone do something similar to one of my cars once, I was extremely pissed. Kinda OT, but I was curious if you have any movies/audio clips of your 944, I'm curious what they sound like with 40 series FM and a straight pipe...

i don't have any but i can tell you what it peaked on the dB meter with the straight pipe.....102.8 dB. which is stupid loud but sweet sounding too

Man, I feel your pain. Yesterday somebody backed into my 944 as well. It was at a gas station, and the people had no insurance! All it did was collapse the front bumper shock, not body damage like yours.

Any outside video surveillance cameras around? It might be worth checking with the companies around the parking lot to see if they have one.

There are cameras in our parking lot but they don't stretch out as far as the employee lot. It's just to watch and see if someone decides to rip the ATM machine off the wall and to watch the back alley after we get robbed since thats the getaway area. still very frustrating, it looks like my car has a scar there on what once was a beautiful, smooth quarter panel....

Just had a 2 1/2" fabricated with a (very) small glass pack on the end. I was concerned I wouldn't pass Summit Points 103db limit.

My daughter has had not one but two accidents like that in the last two weeks! They closed a parking lot at Pasadena Community College and started construction of a new parking structure right when the fall semester started, and it's nuts around there! Cars sitting in line in the current structure for over an hour, because they can't move even enough to turn around and leave . . . accidents everywhere, to the point where campus security just shrugs and says let your insurance handle it, we don't have time. Can you imagine telling the insurance company you've had two hits and runs in just over a week - both rear quarter panels and the back bumper need replacing?

BTW, anyone have any good cosmetic repair tips on a chip? I touched it up but the paint touchup spot is uneven and wavy because of a brush, I'd like to avoid filler to smoothen it out. any special brushes? etc???

try loading it up with lotsa paint, then wet-sanding it. that will get it shiney and smooth. however, you may need to do the whole car with the wet-sanding, otherwise you'd have just a small quarter sized shiney spot on your care.... you want the whole thing to match.
