I think I remember that the 911 in Excellence that had the matte paint job, the guy used SOS Brillo pads to clean the car. He had the same problems with wax and found that to be the only thing to clean the car and not mess up the finish. It had the name of his shop in the article mabye some one with that issue handy could look that up and you could call him.

I second the motion on the paint prep. It's a wax/grease remover to prepare a surface for primer or paint. You can order it from Eastwood ("Paint Pre") or any body shop supply or even an auto parts store with a lot of detailing products will have it. Should clean you right up.

His name's Christian Garibaldi, he's the PCA Tech chair for 930s out of the New Jersey region. If you're a PCA member you can ask him directly via their website.
Don't have the article handy so I don't recall the shop name. That car was bada** too.

Something else to try...Goo Gone. Should strip the wax right off.
I use the stuff all the time to remove wax residue from the satin trim.

Here's another idea...

Wet sand;

Clear coat (matte, satin, or gloss).

remember, no matter how ugly it looks... you can't see the paint while you're driving and neither can anyone else when you're going 150MPH.
