Thumbs down Ok, need alot of encouragement guys!!!

Well, I'm about 200-300 bucks and 2-3 days work away from starting my swapped 944. I'm ready to either burn it, scrap it , part it, or get it running so I can do a 150MPH run into a bridge pillar. What happened????? I waxed it, and it now looks like I hosed it with WD-40 from 10 feet away! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't kicked it yet, I haven't thrown anything at it yet either. I suppose that will be later tonite when it really starts burning at my gut. I guess I could still bring it to the show so I can be laughed at. DAMN this sucks! I'm typing this on the verge of tears, seriously. 2 and a half years, 1 and a quarter times my yearly income and here I sit. Well, my wheels look good enough for the show, just look at those. And my beutiful motor is sitting under the paint that now looks like ***. Well, guys, it' not show worthy anymore due to my stupidity. Hmmm, what do I do now? And don't tell me to repaint it, done that a few time already and now the body is about 95% together. I don't know what I'll do, right now I don't even want to look at what has been my priority, love and dream for a few years now.

I waxed it to try to help protect the paint. It's satin finish, so, now the edges look shiney, the pannels are streaky and some blotchy spots that are looking kind of whiteish from the paint holding the wax. Basicly looks like a waxed bumperette with some armorall half-assed on it.

Wash it with hot water and dish soap. See if that strips the wax off?

(I'm assuming the wax ruined the matte paint appearance, not necessarily the paint itself.)

yeah, bigtime, it's kinda shiney in spots. If I could get the finish even looking, I could live with it. I'm not reserving any hope though.

I'm thinking hot (not too hot!) water and dish soap (like palmolive) would maybe strip the wax without too much impact on the paint. If others have suggestions, I certainly don't claim to be an expert.

Relax, and try the hot water + dishsoap. If that doesn't take it off, a body shop or a good detailing place might know what to do to fix it.

Use Dawn and lots of it. I can't remember what sites, but two of the big wax manf sites recommend dawn because it has the strongest de-greaser that will pull all the was off.

Good Luck.

I'm no paint expert, but maybe you could use a light rubbing compound. I think that the dish soap would be better to try first though.

Rubbing compound would only make it worse, it's starting to get shiney as-is just from rubbing the wax. Hmmm, retire thisproject to the archive and start a new one? Get it running, mabye sparkintrest in it again, cuz right now I don't even want to think about this car. Enjoy it as-is for a year or so and move on to a new project? I've tried to do my best on evrything on this car with the hope that it would be a car that I will keep for ever and be proud of it. I never did and still don't plan to sell it, so I never worried about taking a loss on it. I built this car for me. I also planned to stay with this project untill it hit GT-2 specs, that was the cut-off point. It will never be the baddet car in the world and I know that. But if I don't put a cap on the upgrades, I'll be building it till I die. Now I'm thinking finish it as planned for my first build and move to a different car with the same hope in mind. Dunno?

Zaino Bros says to use Dawn to clean a car to remove all traces of wax (before using their product). You are going to have to stick with a wax in the wash type product with that satin finish. Your not looking for a shine, just to bead up the water.

I will try it later, now's not a good time for me to get even more pissed off. I think it's already too polished to get it back down as it was. My best hope iss to get the finish as even as possible.

Wax and Grease remover from a local body paint shop. It's mild so not to dissolve any old or bad paint. It's almost like diluted mineral spirts.

Color sand the whole car and machine polish it in the worse case scenario. It will at make the car look consistent and not spotty.
