Default Leatherique Carpet Dye

Anyone have experience with Leatherique carpet dye?

Recently picked up a set of used carpets that came with a color-matched bottle of the dye. Would like any info anyone might have with regard to best method of application. Blot? Spray? If spray, air gun or "spritz" gun? Dilute with water?

Emailed Leatherique last week with same questions and no response as of yet.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't post any pearls of wisdom.... But please post your results, because I am thinking of dyeing my carpets as well.

My 1984 has God awful front seats that kinda smell like something died and/or gave birth on them.... (Ok they are not that bad.... But ugly!)

I found a set of almost new Black leather Mazda RX8 seats on the cheap...(mea culpa 944 purists!). I have read that they will fit with a few simple mods to the Mazda seat rails. The only issue is my factory carpet is tan, and dash and trim are brown.... I kinda like the black and brown "buster brown" look.... But the tan has to go!

I am also thinking of dyeing tan leather rear seats to match the fronts.... My back seat is in pretty good shape.... But hardly museum quality!

Thinking of trying this:

Thanks!

liquid dyes or go home.

spray carpet dye is a fraud. will not stay stuck to the Porsche carpet fibers.

the dyes tend to make the carpet sort of hard and crunchy, not as soft like it was originally.
it does work though.

for best results pull the carpet from the car and do it outside after a thorough cleaning (pressure wash, scrubbing, etc). but if you've gone that far you might as well just put new carpet in.

ive done carpet in my car twice now (once tan, and just last month now black) with material off a roll (not a pre-molded set) and it takes about 2 full days to get everything done. total investment was about $100 for the current black carpet.

For the record, I did finally get a response from Leatherique suggesting the best method of application was a tooth brush. I've got a full carpet set to do (already removed from car) and I'm not convinced a tooth brush is the best way to go.

Still not sure which way I'm going to go, and I may not get to this part of the project for some time, but will try to update on progress and results when I get there.

EJ is not changing colors here either, its can can red carpet along with the dye. It should take really well to the carpet. I'm excited to see it done (eventually) since i decided that can can red carpet in a Guards red car might be just a bit too much red. I'm going full black.

I tried Leatherique's dye for my Aston Martin and even shipped them a piece so they could match it up. Boy was I disappointed after reading all the hype on the internet involving this company. After apply the dye to the leather and following the instructions to a "T" the leather had dried to a very glossy finish which is not what the original was (flat). I emailed the company and was told to "sand" the finish and then polish to get the desired look. After spending a tad over $200 on this "kit" I was a bit disappointed to say the least. Maybe I had a bad experience but I will never try them again! Maybe my expectations were too high?

Was there any noticeable difference in the texture of the carpet?

looks badass, Cole.

I didn't get the results I was looking for until I used stuff straight out of the bottle.

You used the Leatherique dye straight out of the bottle? Application method?

I can't recall the brand - as this was 7 years ago.

I believe I diluted it with alcohol.... and put down a couple of coats.
