I know you're probably sick of this topic. Just thought I'd share the experience of a local. I'm in Lynchburg, about an hour north of Danville. I was the kid with more than one speeding ticket a month at some points of my life. Been here 7 years; it's the longest I've managed to maintain a perfect driving record ever.

55 mph sections of road in central VA are safe to for 70 mph, all day long. When it drops to 45 or below, don't push it past 5 over. Don't go over 80, even if it's a 70 mph road.

The twisty back roads are where we have our sports car fun. These are the side roads off of where you were driving. They are practically unpatrolled. As long as you don't get ridiculous, **** off the residents or wreck into something, it's pretty wide open.

Granted, at 56 I'm pushing the upper edges of the 944 enthusiast demographic, and I have mellowed out a bit over the years. Any Rennlister or Pelicanite that passes through Lynchburg and wants to sample some of Blue Ridge backroads, I'm up for hosting.
