I'm looking forward to the whole event but we're probably going to be off to a later start on Friday so we may not even make it down early enough to do anything other than check into the hotel.

I'll be heading south from the Baltimore area late-morning on Friday. I plan to take US-29 through Virginia if anybody wants to link up.

That's the route I'm planning to take, except I won't be leaving until Friday afternoon/evening

It seems I was a bit optimistic about how much room I had in the 944 with a tent and everything. As of now I am only bringing guns in .223/5.56, 9mm, 9mm mak, 5.45x39, 7.5 swiss, and 30-06

I'm eager to try the Swiss. I've heard good things about them and their price point, at the moment, is nice.

I'll likely bring a few more things than planned and one of them will be an unissued 8 mm Mauser.

Travis and I were thinking of having a texas hold 'em game this weekend (probably Sat night?). I can bring the chips. We figured there would be some interest so a signup is necessary (because there will only be room for 10-12).

First come first serve. If anyone wants to be the ring-leader for this "tourney" shoot me a PM.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Qky...?usp=send_form

Call it a $20 buy in. Top 3 places pay.

Travis will be the dealer, complete with tuxedo.

And of course no 944 Fest would be complete without a speeding ticket

you're in deep **** dude.

you're more than 20mph over....in VA that's reckless driving, a class 4 misdemeanor. it's one rung below a felony. it's punishable with fine AND jail time at the discretion of the local judge, who may make an example of you.

you need to find a lawyer, asap.

Had a great time and I enjoyed meeting a bunch of people!

(Sorry about the ticket... I learned a while ago to keep the speed down in that area... )

The cop explained all that said he'd cut me some slack and file it as a speeding ticket. I'm just gonna pay it and be done with it. I'm not too concerned about getting a point or two on my license.

The speed limits on the highways in VA are stupid. The limit was 65, then dropped down to 45 whenever there was a house or two, then went back up to 65 an eighth of a mile later. It did this every few miles and I was tired of having to slow down and speed up again. It was late and I just wanted to get home, so I decided to risk it in the 45mph zones. On the way to the fest I went 65-70mph the whole way and didn't get pulled over, so I figured I could get away with it again on the ride home.

Not how it works in the south. Look up any traffic lawyer in the town listed on the ticket, and hire them. They will go to court without you. They'll get it dropped for something like bad muffler. Do not underestimate how screwed you will be if you don't play the game. They just want your money, give it to them.

I received a similar piece of paper a few years ago....they wanted 4 digits in moola.

RaleighBahn is giving good advise.
