Love me some 944fest and the drive from the Cleveland area to VIR looks tasty, twisties through southern OH, West Virginia and Virginia. I'm in!

Is the cost of a room worth it, or can we use the showers if we just toss a tent up in the general camping area?

I have no idea if the rooms are really "worth it" but, considering my wife's disability (crushed foot from a car accident), we decided to get a room rather than roughing it. The price is higher than the going rates for local hotels (based on my experience from driving VIR) but you're just that much closer.

Take that for whatever its worth.

BB.

Im pretty sure Ive used the showers at VIR and they are fine. Tent is the easiest/cheapest. I seem to never get around to putting up my tent so I hope Alan goes so I can sleep in his trailer. hint hint.

Every option at VIR is great. And the bathroom / shower situation for those camping, you will not be disappointed.

We have had a few questions on helmets for the DE event.

Must be Snell SA2000 or newer
Must have the orange Snell sticker on the inside showing this.

It is my understanding that helmets having the new SA2015 ratings will not be released for sale until October, after our event. If you are purchasing a new helmet the SA2010 is going to be the newest rating you can get.

If you can wait until closer to the event, and closer to the October release of the 2015 rating, you may be able to score a deal on some being liquidated before the change. Just an FYI.

I did this drive, but in reverse on my way to the Fest @ Mid-Ohio. It's so much fun. Of course I did it at 5am in the dark, going plenty fast. Enjoy the scenery if you have time to take it slow!

I hate driving in the dark, so I will leave at dawn, and get there when I get there. I went ahead and booked a room. But if the weather looks good about a week out, I may cancel and bring a tent. I loved the camping aspect at Nelson Ledges, hangin' out at night and making breakfast on the camp stove in the morning......

Very much looking forward to this. It has been the highlight of the summer the last few years. It is going to take a while to arrive though, lots of other trips in the mean time.
