Exclamation Clutch change, or who wants to by my buddy?

This post is for Kevin, who is sitting on the side of I-10 waiting for a towtruck to haul his now- clutchLESS 944 home. He called me here at the office to post this for him. He is officially sending out the distress signal to the secret society that IS you 944 owners.

He's recruiting help for clutch R & R this weekend at his house. Call him on his cell phone; he'll update this post when he gets home.

832.457.3186

signed,
Kevin's co-worker Taylor

Update: Car is a home thanks to Mike's Towing, now I guess I'll HAVE to change the clutch.

doin' the bump...

Talked to Kevin (this is Kevin's co-worker, Taylor). His phones are down and he cannot get online. His cell is still working. Try him again, Matt.

' What seems to be the problem with the clutch?' Lemmie see if'n I can answer that for Kevin. Er, uh, it's FRAGGED! Like well done, man. He said somethin' about a putrid burnt rubber smell AFTER the thing went clunkity clunk.

bumpity bump...

Guys, just talked to Kev via cell phone. SWB is replacing a pole or something in his 'hood. He'll be online again tomorrow here at the office. The clutch and rear seals need R & R, he could sure use the help...

Kevin,

Just left you a VM. I wont be around this weekend, we fly out on Sat. If the fuel rail and other stuff fix the 944 tomorrow you're welcome to borrow her for the weekend.

If you need a ride or anything for work the next day or so, call me.

Call Jason at Paragon and get everything that should be replaced (just go their web site http://www.paragon-products.com/ cause the last thing you want to be short of is some thing like a 10 cent circlip when it is ready to go back together. Don't ask me why I know that! 15 hours re&re for a NA clutch if it's the first time for you.

Don't bother to get the OEM rubber centre clutch either - get the replacement SACHS Spring Center Clutch. If the cars is on the original clutch, the reason you smell that acrid smell is because the rubber center on the OEM clutch broke up and is fried on the moving surfaces.

Matt, Geo, James, Brian, et al...thanks for the support. I love the rennlist community! I WILL be doing the clutch Saturday and probably Sunday, as she is my daily driver. My daughter's Birthday party next weekend, so...

My buddy at BAP/GEON by my office has a clutch for $300, I'll be picking that up today.

Now, here is something funny. Called Mike's Towing (Best in Houston) as usual when the 944 goes down.
Me: "Hi, I need a tow truck"
Dispatcher: "Whats the address where we'll be towing to?"
Me: "23645 Pebworth"
Dispatcher: "Hey, are you the black Porsche?"
Me:"Man, that's just wrong"...

I hate when they know you by your car! Let me know if you get stuck, it is not a difficult job just very time consuming. By yourself, I wouldnt bet on having it done in two days.
