Default Heater Fan Blower "0" Deactivation?

The 944 has an annoying feature where the heater fan blower stays on even when on "0". It wouldn't bother me so much except it has a tendency to flatten my battery if I leave the ignition on "On" with engine off (racing battery). Possibly something to do with the resistor pack sucking a lot of power?

Is there a way to actually turn this off on "0"?

funny you mention this, I was diagnosing a no start tonight on the NA (its running now--the fuse box is flakey) and had the ignition on for a long period of time, and was wondering about this myself.

Subscribed to this thread. Most people have the issue where the resistor pack is crusty and 1-2-3 fan speed settings don't work, only setting 4 does.

Resistor pack for 944's

You'd have to add another switch inline to the fan switch wiring to turn it off completely.

Why do you leave the car "on"?

i can get mine to shut off all the way if i turn the switch just right between 0 and 1. I do it for the auto-eq on my stereo, when its measuring the cabin i don't want the fan noise messing with the eq curve.

I read once that you can accomplish this if you pull one wire out of the harness to the resistor pack (the wire for 0). IIRC. Or maybe that was for a 928.

Left in "on" position when fault finding. Battery went flat after 15-20 mins in the "On" position.

I might try the brown/blue wire solution to see if that "fixes" it.

Thanks
