Finally after 4.5 years of owning this car I finally have a clean and pretty intake. The finish of the product I used is junk though... I tried something new & it really isn't up to snuff. Oh well, it'll do. The head is a rebuilt unit. This is a 160 hp car.
Some people asked "why?".
Good question, because I had my car in a pretty good place before selling parts off.
My answer is:
-Defects of this body disturb me.
-I have too much money into the car for what it is.
-Some days the noise and non carpeted interior bothers me.
-Some days I want a lower profile car.
-For running errands the high bolster racing seats are a pain.
-In the end I miss having a factory car. I miss flip up headlights.
But I still like having a semi-race car. Solution: Sell off some valuable parts. Part out Wilson. Buy something else.
But sales have gone stale, and I have had enquiries on selling the complete car. So Wilson is getting back on the road. I can drive him most days and take part in Autocross events. Will he sell? I don't know... it'll take a special purchaser. If not, that's ok... I'll have the stock 924 "Gramps" to give me the "cushion" I am looking for some days.
If I keep Wilson into the summer, he'll get sticky rubber for AutoX events.
Stumbled upon some pics from a few years ago. Had bondo not been lifting & had I not had some body problems, I wouldn't have changed the paint. It was metallic black. It cleaned up really nice, no? Unfortunately being black it looked dirty 20 minutes after the car wash. White is much more forgiving.
I can't wait to have a full interior car again with flip up headlights and all.
Noah: Try VHT Cast aluminum engine paint..followed by a coat of their clear..Really "spiffs" things up a bit..OR as a buddy of mine pointed out recently, about a 2 part epoxy paint..has a little bag inside the spray can. You push a button on the can which ruptures the bag and releases the catalyst into the paint. Alleged to be bulletproof...jus sayin..still have to check it out!
The engine has be leaking from the front upper balance shaft delete plate I designed, so today I tackled it. Looking at the very minimal contact patch at the bottom, it's understandable why it was leaking.
Made a bigger one & used a lot of "Ultra Grey" sealant. Boom! What's next? I've been down and lacking energy & direction lately but today I'm getting some things done.
